Do you have access to WI Fi where you live?

Unread postby Koftruecross » 29 June 2019, 03:05

It took some time for WI FI to come out here. I'm lucky because just a mile down the road it isn't available. And cel phone service don't work out there either. There's too many trees and there's not enough people living out there. This house had to be re wired because the phone lines were over 50 years old.. I used to read a lot and listen to the radio before it came... My roommate Scott uses it to play on his PLAY STATION..Their tails are the antennas.

I think WiFi was available in Appalachia at the same time as it was available everywhere else in America. Routers are delivered in the post. I think perhaps you’re talking about broadband internet access? Which isn’t surprising, providers are gonna take a lot longer to get their money back on fitting the infrastructure in the arse-end of bum fuck nowheresville. You’re gonna be the last one to get pretty much any technological advances on that front. 5G has just started rolling out and you may never see it in your lifetime. Maybe move to somewhere a little more commutable to a major population hub?

What does that have to do with what I said, WiFi, or dusting surfaces?

it means that in my area of florida, where 4g is 'always' available, according to multiple stats, my area its infrequent.

therefore, your stats are incorrect.

I didn’t offer any stats, I didn’t talk about 4G or mobile networks, or Florida. If anything, your unprompted revelation supports what I was saying. So I’ll ask again;

What does that have to do with what I said, WiFi, or dusting surfaces? Or was this just a little moment where you didn’t realise that you were still logged in as Iamjava and not as Koftruecross?

It wouldn’t be fair of me to derail the thread about WiFi that your split personality started. If you’d like to talk about mobile data connectivity, please start a new thread. Let’s keep this thread in the wheelhouse of WiFi, Appalachia and Corey boy.

.................
To Iamjava My mother had Hughes Net satellite internet. but it didn't work very good.. She doesn't live far out in the deep woods. But there's only three houses on her road and the other internet companies say it doesnt pay for them to go out there where she lives.

There a lot of dead areas in Appalachia. In some places they only have intermittent land line phone service,

I was just looking at the hughs satellite website.

Fuck that. Lol. You cant even stream movies on that.

Im not in A rural area at all. But rural for being so close to Philadelphia and Trenton. Almost everyone has wifi out here. As well as most businesses/stores offering free wifi. So yeah it's common.

Having said that..... My power has been out for about an hour now from. It getting windy for like 20 minutes. I could see one of the metal boxes at the top of the power line blowing sparks though so it might not be related to the weather. At least it cooled down some from the 93° it was just before the weather changed.

I have had far more than my share of trouble with Appalachian Electric Power. The only thing their customer service does is say,"NO " in answer to every conceivable question..

Still isnt on. :( on the website it doesnt have an estimated time yet to be back on. It looked like it was gonna storm for like 20 minutes. Thats when it went out. Then it barely drizzled for another 20. Now its kinda nice out.

My power goes out alot to. But I'd still prefer lots of trees around.

I agree. I love the trees even though they do damage once in a while..
Where I live there are trees that have fallen on power lines but didn't break them. The lines are stretched and Appalachia Electric Power will NOT fix them. There are power poles leaning at 45 degree angles.
Then AEP Put the power poles in a zig zag pattern and told us they are only responsible for every other pole that is on the side of the road. So that means if something goes wrong with the alternate poles that fall inland on your property then you have to pay money to fix what is wrong with them.

Im sure everyone on here has wifi lol. I do think you should wipe that surface down with a wet paper towel. It'll look a lot nicer and will only take a second :3
