Do you psychoanalyze yourself when trying to date or hookup?

Do you psychoanalyze yourself when trying to date or hookup?

Let me start by saying I now believe that taking psychology as an elective in highschool as a filler elective was a horrible horrible idea because now I basically go through life with a debugging window open that distracts me from living my life. Like I could be chatting with someone through text and all of a sudden they stop talking for a while and then I start going through probability trees for what they must be thinking and how they could be reacting to what i said or did or how I said it or phrased it and all of a sudden I'm in a emotionless analytical mood which must bleed over into my texts because I'd start talking to someone meet in person and really get along with them only to suddenly stop hearing from them. Nobody ever ever tells me what i did wrong or what i did to make them lose interest or if something unrelated happened or if i just killed their vibe and now that I'm typing this the word "buzzkill" comes to mind and now I'm wondering if I'm tending to logical factual statements instead of wording it more enticing and emotional and by doing so end up smashing open every Schrodinger's box of potential connections before they have ripened and spooking them?

I've never experienced this, but then, I've never been on a date and I've only had one hookup (which resulted in one of my two current relationships :P).

It has nothing to do with taking a highschool class. It's a normal part of being an introvert. Welcome to the club.

It's baffling to me that there are people out there who don't psychoanalyse themselves in every single social interaction they ever have.

I work very similarly.. I have a very analytical mind, and I generally get way more emotional and animated over weird ass topics like.. mushrooms, or philosophy, lol. But yes I psychoanalyze wayyy too much.

I can't tell you if the reason people are getting spooked is from your over analysis, but I can tell you that if it was, it wouldn't help you analyze any less to know. I think it has a lot more to do with confidence, and what you're trying to get from the conversation. Try and find some topics you're passionate about, and focus on having a fun conversation as opposed to a serious one imo.

Right? I mean some people leave an event and they’re like “I enjoyed that!” How could they possibly know without analyzing every moment of it for the next 3 days?

Do you find yourself second guessing whether you sent someone the proper emojis?
Blow: "Nowadays even Liam can release an album of his screechy vocals and it'll probably go #1..."
Ramzus: I can admit that I'm horny just about 24/7
homomorphism: I used to not think your name was deshay and that Erick was just being racist
Hunter: sometimes I think I was literally born to be a pornstar
