General offtopics from other topics

Unread postby Valso » 21 July 2020, 16:23

For a few days it seems we'll need a general offtopic topic for things coming from other topics, otherwise the original topics will become a mess. Like the topic "what are you thinking about". I could keep replying there but then we'll go into a so deep (pun intended) offtopic that Rene will probe us all. So from now on when there's an offtopic forming in any other topic, I think it would be better to simply copy-paste a quote and reply here. Rene should say what he thinks about my idea.

Magic J wrote:That was my feeling. Isn't Borisov a boxer, or something, though? Still, I wouldn't place any bets on Borisov: Putin would just have him irradiated to death and claim victory by forfeit.

He might have beena boxer at some point in his past. What I know about him is that when he was young he was the personal bodyguard of the communist dictator Todor Zhivkov and later, after the end of the Russian slavery (or as other people call it - "the communist regime"), Borissov became a fire fighter.

We've generally not minded extensive discussions taking place in such threads, haha :P

But I guess it's an interesting idea! We'll see what happens.

This is like a parallel universe, where two threads are potentially discussing the same thing, but with different results. That in itself is fine, but I'm going to stay in the universe with a greater chance of being probed by René, if it's all the same with you.

What's a "GFO"? I saw it mentioned in several different topics.

GayForum.Org

In the beginning, there was GayTeenForum.net (GTF).
Then there was GayTeenForum.Org (GTF, or GTFO for distinction, with .net referred to as GTFN).
Then there was GayForum.Org (GFO).

But replying tangentially is, like, my favourite thing! Thread derailment is cool and good. Legend has it that one day a mighty and capricious homo shall arrive, and they'll derail all the main threads permanently with a shitpost of extraordinary power. I await this day with great excitement.

The general posting threads like the Thinking, Smile, Pissed Off, and Frown threads were meant to contain discussion within them. Nothing is off-topic in them if it is a discussion that started with a post in them.

In the most other forums, if not all other forums, thread derailing is not acceptable and you can get punished for doing it. So I thought it would be the same here. But anyway. This topic can remain as a topic where I and other users can post things and/or questions that don't fit anywhere else. I suppose Rene wouldn't mind it. Like "who the hell is Corey and why does he need to walk free?". Was he in jail or something?

It is the reason I'm an atheist. I am a man of science

Me too. Which is why I can't understand how can someone want to stay religious, especially when the deity they're worshipping wants them dead for being different. It's right there in the old testament (altough the new testament isn't much more human loving either): https://i.ibb.co/Jvrtgsc/the-bible-comm ... ted-EN.png Even that fact alone should be enough to turn them away.

If someone is brought up to believe in a god or gods, then it's very hard for them to accept that they don't exist, even if parts of their religious doctrine condemns aspects of their own existence. Of course there are people who do realise they don't believe later in life, just as there are also some who don't believe and then something makes them change their mind and they 'find god'.

I think people should be able to believe/obey as much or as little as they like as long as they aren't hurting others. If someone is gay and christian that's no different to someone who is divorced and christian, or someone who eats shellfish and is christian. The list of things the bible forbids is very long. You're not even supposed to have short hair or cut your beard, or wear mixed textiles!

Unfortunately the stuff about homosexuality seems to be the only thing many christians take note of and they conveniently forget about the rest. Really it's nothing to do with religion, it's just an excuse to validate their bigoted views, which are almost always taught from the previous generations.

If someone is gay, christian, and is part of a community/congregation that loves them and respects who and what they are then I don't see a problem. I suspect in your country, which is stricter in terms of religion, those people are fewer and further between than over here.

IF you re-read any of my previous posts on the matter, you'll see I never said anything about forbidding them to believe what they want. Nobody can stop them to do that, nor does anyone have the right to try. All I said was how much astounded I am of the fact that these people choose to stay in an aggressive and non-healty (for them) environment.
When I was 9 my mom pushed the bible on me and made the mistake to force me read it cover to cover. Since the bible is the cure for religion, naturally that planted the first seeds of atheism in me. And over the next years the harder she tried to brainwash me, the more atheist I was becoming. There were a few events that made me immune to religious brainwashing but I won't get into that right now - unless you specifically ask what they were, then I'll tell you. Eventually she gave up trying to brainwash me.
So you see - to someone who has been an atheist the bigger part of his conscious life and later discovered he's part of the LGBT society, meeting LGBT members who actually believe in gods can be as inconceivable as a Jew supporting Hitler's ideas about wiping out all Jews. As weird as the latter sounds, I've actually seen such Jews.
I'm perfectly OK with LGBT members believe whatever deities they want, even if it's Ctulhu, but that doesn't mean I'll ever be able to understand it. ;) Not being able to understand something doesn't make that something worthy to forbid and it certainly doesn't make it homophobic, as someone might think.

Edit: I forgot to mention religion in my country. It's a joke that nobody in their right mind cares about them. 90% of the priests are hypocritical gays who fuck each other every night, as they admitted themselves, but when it comes to the annual Pride, they're all against it because it's "against god's laws".

This is where my topic comes in handy: when IDK where to post things/questions such as this: what do you make of this meme? I'm not sure if it's homophobic or humouristic.

It's funny! It's irony, you see.

The irony is that something that is meant to show acceptance of gay people can also be interpreted as promoting the opposite: in this case, us being enslaved / owned and exchanged as a form of property or currency. :P

It would be great if we could choose who our slave owner to be. I know who I would choose. :D
