Has anyone noticed how almost no one listens?

In life, in general, have you noticed how no one listens?

I'm selling a property at the moment & my agent has been pestering the buyers to exchange. I just emailed the agent "Please don't contact the buyers anymore because I don't want to make us look desperate & sabotage the sale, just ask their solicitor to contact them." In reply, the agent wrote back "ok I'll keep trying to contact the buyers", which was the exact opposite of what I said.

When I rent out a place on air b n b, I always say "if you need anything please text me on my phone number instead of using the air b n b app because I don't get notifications there. Thanks", they nod & say "ok", but every single guest ignores & proceeds to message me through the air b n b app instead of texting me. I have to remind them again before they say "oh sorry I didn't realise! I'll text from now on" .

When I used to tell people I have no money left or lost my job, they keep inviting me for dinner or to pay for holidays. :3

When I told people I got married (had the signing but no ceremony yet), they forgot & kept trying to hook me up on gay dates. :nono:

If I have lodgers, I'll tell them basic house rules e.g. not slamming the front door to avoid waking people up. They always say "of course, I'm a considerate person", but after the second week when they begin to relax the door slamming starts.

If I tell the other person something important, their eyes glaze over as if they aren't listening, I'll have to be really over-expressive and smiling just to get them to pay attention. It's ok to have to repeat ones self once in a while but when it's almost everyone, it adds up. It's exhausting & makes me not want to bother communicating with people anymore.

Does anyone else experience this? :flame:

Lots of people tend to turn on autopilot for things they really shouldn't. My mom does this to an extreme. It's nigh impossible to get something through her. I have to repeat facts and requests at least three times for her to listen, and sometimes even that won't work.

It's part of being human I suppose. Brains tend to automatize stuff that repeats itself too much. Sometimes they get it wrong...

Edit: also, narcissism.

But yes, I've noticed that thing of some people apparently not listening.

If it only happened some times, I could handle it but it basically happens all the time, I'd say around 95% of everyone I talk to, I gave a few examples above. Sometimes I wonder what's the point in communicating at all- I might as well just go to the gym, get some plastic surgery or spend my life focussing on my looks instead of my brain (as some of my friends do with great success at getting people to listen to them).

Yes. I am one myself and I've also experienced the texting issue. Sometimes I wipe my tears away with the hundred dollar bills they pay me every month.

What texting issue?

Just because you make hundreds of dollars in profit doesn't mean everyone does- some never even get to see the rent because it gets absorbed by bills that otherwise wouldn't exist.

An example would be if you moved into an apartment with a separate office room & a bedroom, but after signing the contract the agent removes the office furniture & installs bedroom furniture so you can't run your business. Although there are images online to prove it was an office when you signed the 12 month contract, they refuse to change it back, refuse to let you out of the contract & you don't have enough money to take them to court. Your only option is to run your business at a reduced capacity from the kitchen/lounge area & rent out the spare 'bedroom' on air b n b to make ends meet. I'm sure you can think of other examples where people are forced to be landlords, if you put your imagination to it.
