HELP. Are muscle guys at gym into guys?

Unread postby randomkitten » 22 September 2020, 03:28

Hi all,

I'm 23 (Male-Gay) and i've been going to the gym a ton since the whole covid thing, and it does a great job at relieving my anxiety. I have social anxiety and get nervous x100 around people I feel attracted too when it comes to actually approaching them lol. I don't have much experience with guys because I simply just have terrible anxiety when I feel attracted to someone. However, for the past couple weeks there is a cute boy around my age that goes around the same time as me and I find myself making eye contact with him a bunch. Not trying to toot my horn but I get hit on a lot by men (A lot i'm not even interested in), and have been told that I can be a model (lol).. Anywase, we'll make eye contact and we'll be holding a staring contest for a couple seconds but sometimes i'll look away because I get nervous. He appears a straight, white, young guy that is very fit and muscular. I see him working out with a bunch of other *Straight* guys that are all gym bros and doesn't give any gay hints or gestures. I'm not sure if he is bi, DL gay, bi-curious, or what but we make eye contact a bunch and I'm attracted to him. I do get really nervous though because of my social anxiety unfortunately, and I try to not make eye contact with him at some points when I'm walking by him. I feel stupid though because I'm actually interested in him but am not trying to show it at some points due to my wondering if whether or not he's into me or not. I don't know what to do.... Anyone have any ideas on this situation? :{

Welcome kitten (great name). You will never know unless you take things to the next step (or happen to see him kissing another guy). By the next step, I just mean saying 'hi.' Try any variation of that — hey, how's it going, what's up, etc. Anything like that creates an opening without expressing interest. If you have made eye contact, as you described, any of those non-committal greetings would be natural and should not create any discomfort. I get that you will be nervous, but go for it.

The first time you try that it may not go anywhere. You might get a nod or a single syllable in response. Greet him again the next time you see him, or maybe he will greet you. If you try that a few times and you don't feel any interest, maybe that's that. Hopefully more of a conversation will get going. You have nothing to lose by the sound of it.

Thank you for the name compliment lol :D. And yes I'm sure we're bound to say something to each other at some point because we see each other nearly every day and make eye contact quite frequently. I just hate that i have the worst anxiety when it comes to talking to a crush ..

I understand. It took me way too long to overcome my own shyness. The only way is to step out of your comfort zone and go for it. Don't make a pass at him. Just say hi.
