Growing and selling marijuana before it was legal in California. Ironic they deprived me of a year of freedom and now the state California encourages people to smoke it.

Interestingly enough, many gay and tranny beat the crap out of haters in my prison. It didn't change their attitude.

You've been in prison? So have I and proud of it.

Orlly? Why proud?

I'm proud because I was a middle class whiteboy and I survived it. And it taught me a lot. I met some great people there as well. I learned to look past the stereotypes. The prison library also had the complete works of Leon Trotsky which I was able to finish before I was released. Lol.

The marijuana laws were stupid anyways. I've seen people shoot up on the streets of san francisco in broad daylight and nobody does shit.

Lol as for weed... my uncle and my grandmother use to sell pot together. Of course never got caught. Before my uncle Tim died last year he sold pot to the people in the apartment complex. The Landlord and the maintenance folks all bought weed from him.

This reads a lot like those people who say having been spanked in their childhood made them the upstanding citizens they now are. Bullshit.

Were there other gay socialists in prison with you? Is that a common thing?

Jeezus christ. I never said it made me an upstanding citizen. You're so very gay cliché. Draw in the claws.

It made me tougher so I could survive the streets. In American prisons gay men are mixed in the general population unless they're effeminate and too obvious. Flaming queens are put in PC (Protective Custody) so they won't be raped. I'm masculine and I wasn't swishy so I had to live with the straight boys. It made me tough. That's all I'm saying.

Most those brutes are not political. It was almost like a godsend that I found several volumes of dusty Trotsky in the library. There were plenty of gay males in the county jail before I was transferred. We had our own dorms. Or should I say orgy rooms. ;) But in prison gay men have to pass so it's kept quiet.

Actually the jail provided condoms. This is a very progressive state. But in prison you're on your own.

Or use latex gloves. That's what they did in my prison. (Except me. My ex and I were clean, anyways.)

So your ex was in prison with you? A match made in prison?

The apropos command under unix systems (Linux now days) was always useful. Seems to be the proper time to use that word here on GFO.

So I'll bite, what were you and your ex serving time for?

It represents the majority of my adulthood and a very significant relationship. (Considering that in total I've been a free adult 3 years out of almost 10 years as an adult.) I mean shit I was 19 at arrest and 25 at release and 27 now.

I'm not proud, but it's either I say prison or make a very long, convoluted lie.

But an alternative would have been to simply not mention prison, especially if one is not particularly proud of it. So it doesn't make sense that you bring it up yourself unprompted.
