I feel I am at a massive crossroad...new job and new opportunities. I wouldn't be on this forum if not and I suspect this time next year I will on here asking for relationship advice lol

Jokes aside though my life does feel a bit up in the air - I would say I want to meet a nice guy but I guess that is the same for everyone on this forum!

From my point of view though I am that guy - just down to earth and a bit geeky. I'm not Brad Pit but hopefully someones cup of tea...I guess only time will tell as it usually does

Why do you think you need dutch courage to be able to chat on here? If you weren't drinking, and thus, not on here, what would you be doing?

While I haven't tried every gay chat website, this one seems pretty laid back and accepting as long as people observe the rules.

Wish you good fortune in your new job! Also sure hope you develop more self confidence, especially when reaching out to the rest of the LGBTQ+ community.

I don't know tbh - guess always been the 'straight guy' which is hilarious considering I have barely had any girlfriends

Thanks and yeah I think that is the key - if you have any tips or whatever let me know. I do want to reach out at this point and meet like minded people (I am sure a quick google search would probably do the trick but I would prefer people letting me know their experiences)

Well, the thing that helped me the most in my own coming out was 1) spending a bit of time in therapy working on the issues that were holding me back from accepting myself, 2) meeting other gay men (and even a few lesbians, but I didn't know many back then), and 3) participating in organizations that were primarily gay-focused. I worked for a gay newspaper/magazine and just got to know lots of different people in the community and allies. Had to move cross country to find such a community, but I would never go back even if I believed things had improved back there.
