I drink too much

I drink too much

Unread postby Lurker101 » 9 February 2022, 00:02

Anyone who knows me - family and work people - always comment on how much I drink

I do like a drink...tbh it was drink that made me come onto websites like this to admit I was gay so looking at it that way it has done me a favour. On the other hand it is holding me back - I can go a couple of days on it but after that it gives me heavy anxiety

I was chatting to a decent guy on here one weekend and got a bit pissed and scared him off (sorry if you read this!)

But I don't drink in the week but kill it over a weekend - does anyone have tips for knocking it on the head? I am about to start a new job so will prob be out and about but in terms of home boozing does anyone have any tips on cutting back?

can you tell a bit more about 1) what you drink, 2) how long you drink, and 3) if your drinking is connected with anything else like smoking or while watching movies etc? For example, one might drink a bottle of wine over the course of the evening while playing Fortnite.

I never drink an alcohol, I don't know how it taste. Many times I was invited to have drink with my Korean friend to reject their invitation for drink is impolite. So, I faking drink many times and told them I didn't drink much. since I am younger than my coworker, there is a way to drink to face side way to honor the older guy, so I twisted my body all the way back so they didn't see me drink. and when my co worker didn't see I pour it to His glass.

first what is the pleasure from drinking the alcohol you get? is it the alcohol that make your body warm? is it the mixture taste? or the hangover feeling?
if you can define why you love to drink, maybe you can find another way to get the feeling you want.
Thank god I love chocolate and milk for my drink.

It is a weekend thing - I get up early and drink all day. I do find it enhances films and games but I have a terrible habit of drunk texting people as the day goes on

The amount of times I wake up on a sunday morning and cringe over stuff I have sent just isn't great

Well then, it seems pretty easy - at least to me - how you can approach this. Start out with a healthier choice - water, juice, even tea or coffee would be better though, of course, I'm assuming you wouldn't be tempted to spike any of these. Develop your own limits: both in terms of total drinks and how long your drink. Second, just resist the urge to text when you're 'feeling no pain.' If you aren't able to control the urge to drink or text by limiting yourself, then you probably need to think about recovery.

Has this grown more concerning due to pandemic restrictions? If so, then when things calm down again, you might find getting out, doing things with friends, etc will help.

Pozzie...yeah it is bad but I am going to make a real effort to stop the home drinking

Pub drinking I am going to go with but my social life is almost non-existant now so that is why it has been supermarket booze....the so-called pandemic was a load of shit. I'm sorry but I won't forgive the Sage twats (are those life destroying fucks supposed to sound like a make of gravy?), piers morgan (went on a xmas holiday after spending weeks telling us plebs not to), dr hilary from that awful gmb (went on a cruise) and the bbc - those fucks have tax paid incomes...

Sorry I am a newbie to this forum and no doubt this rant will get me kicked off it!

All those thing you explain isn't sound good to me. better have good sleep on weekend, traveling, cooking, or go out for date.

,

Lurker you can do it, just be strong. I have been sober for 16 years. I always drank to much and decided one day i was never going to touch a drop again. Its been hard but worth it.

"too much" is perspective. if that's the way you really feel about yourself, then maybe cut back and take care of your health so you can live a long happy life =)

people say i drink too much, but i can handle a lot more, being a 300# body builder. drinking 3-5 times a week is a social lifestyle, but if you're drinking alone, it might be a problem. it really is perspective. you do you and what makes you happy. just don't let it affect your health, your work, and your relationships.

I used to drink a lot to get me through a really bad job - I didnt drink in the week as I could get by just about without it

Fast forward a few months later and I changed jobs and at the start I liked it but the same old shit reared its ugly head...cue more boozing

One more job change is on the cards. This is my last one - I should just call it quits and do something else tbh but this is my last try as this crap and if not I will be forced to do something else...as Chandler says "the fear" gets you but that is a TV show and I actually have to pay a mortgage lol
