The BEST of 2021
What are your best realistic hopes for 2021? (World peace and an end to hunger would be nice, but not realistic.) Make your answer as personal or general as you like.
I hope that by the end of the year COVID-19 is managed to the point that we can stop wearing masks in public most of the time and theaters, bars, and restaurants can operate near normally again.
I hope that a significant percentage of Americans who support Trump will snap out of whatever delirium that was.
I hope all GFO members enjoy more sex (a little or a lot)
I hope I can drop my own quarantine 15 before summer swimming season. Saying that, I am logging off and going for a walk.
Happy New Year!

My main goal is to cope with my mental health.. at least more good days then bad.
I hope my roommates get their children back and make things more lively... I miss the 3 of them.

I hope I have a better job and get away from the nightmare that I am currently in.

This is not realistic at all.

This is even less realistic than the previous one.
I am hoping for a new job where don't have to work with toxic people and actually get paid what I am worth. (Salaries in my field have skyrocketed over the past 5 years, and I was underpaid before that. The difference is shocking.)
I am also hoping to fix up my home to either sell or at least be more liveable.

Re: The BEST of 2021
I hope I am both still alive at the end of the year, and also that I am happy to be alive which is the bigger ask of the two.
I'd say I hope I can actually make some progress into the whole "being a writer" thing but that seems too unrealistic to qualify.

I think the better thing to hope for is that the American left resolves make even a semblance of an effort to address the failings that have entirely alienated a significant proportion of Americans from so much as listening to them, or facts.

As a group, with our recent influx of middle-aged gentlemen with penchants for dalliances in public restrooms, we should be able to hit a 1-for-1 ratio of instances of sex versus the current membership of 18886 without the rest of us having to do anything at all.
I think I’d like to hope for a move this year. I think I’m tired of London, but with the world as it is, I don’t even know where to begin looking for a change of job at the moment, though hopefully that’ll clear up by the half-way mark. Just more and more I’m feeling a longing for drastic change.
More easily achievable, I’d like to get my fitness levels back to what they were pre-lockdown and finally get my VO2 max above 50.
Feeling more of a desire to get back onto the dating circuit again too.

Re: The BEST of 2021
My wishes are that my grandma makes it to her vaccination (she has hypertension and is slightly obese) in spite of our president actively wanting to kill as many people as possible, that the company I started with my friend starts turning some profit, and that I get to travel more often and make my relationship with my boyfriend even stronger. I also hope our mutt doesn't grow too big and that we find an apartment to rent in a building where my grandma gets to live next door. If I get all of that to happen, there's absolutely nothing else I'll ask of 2021.

^ Good luck with your company and everything else, Eryx!
My deepest hope is that my and Brenden's relationship with our boyfriend will continue to grow stronger in 2021, and that by the end of it, we'll have settled down together (or at least be getting quite close to that point).
It would also be nice if we could get close to being UK debt-free. That's realistic and should happen if our income level stays the same as it has been this year even without the pandemic support grants from the government. (With continuation of the grants, we could realistically be entirely debt-free a year from now, but I'm not getting my hopes up about that.)
It sure would be nice for the world if the pandemic got sorted out, though on a personal level, I have to admit it's been awfully convenient and I wouldn't really mind another year of it. That's not a hope, obviously.

See I feel bad for thinking the same thing sometimes.
Sure it sucks, but the thing is the only change to my life that being repeatedly locked down has brought is that I can't go to work. And considering just how much I absolutely hate my job, and how much my job does not agree with me and how much it utterly fucks with my anxiety... on the whole I'd say it's been a net gain to be away from it.
Plus in theory being at home gives me more time to work on shit that makes me happy and that I want to do. In practise my procrastination has fucked that idea to hell and back, but in theory it's still possible for me to be productive on personal projects if lockdown shenanigans continue long into 2021.
Plus it's convenient to have a permanent solid reason to avoid what few begrudging social obligations I have.

Re: The BEST of 2021
I'm hoping to find the one person I'll live with. Even though I might have already found him, one day after Christmas (if it's not a good sign I don't what is).
Hoping to travel next winter with my father and brother.
I hope I will have some openings to see my friends while I'm working (this might not be realistic).
I understand why some people enjoy the lockdown. I like some part of it, but I fucking hate not to be able to see my family, and I can't even touch them when I do. So I hope it will stop soon.

I am with you on wanting the perks of this lockdown to last past the pandemic. I hope I never have to go into an office again. I work in IT, so it isn’t out of the question.

Re: The BEST of 2021
Happy new year to everyone!
All I hope for is that we can get back to normal by spring. Lockdown has also been super convenient for me as I can easily work from home but I’ve realised how much I miss seeing my friends and family. Going out to the cinema, dinner or a cheeky drink after work on route to the station. Life sucks without being around people you love.
On the plus side I’ve saved a lot of money this year as my lifestyle before was pretty expensive..
