The dead Internet

Unread postby Eryx » 14 June 2019, 13:39

Did you ever stop and wonder how many websites are out there made by people who aren't even among us anymore, hidden because no one else remembers it? Things that were relevant and widespread but are now left to rot on the corners of the web?

In this thread, let's share sites and videos that bring us back to the prehistoric ages of the WWW.

Well, I think Cláudio is referring to websites made by now-deceased people and they’re unknown to anyone because they’ve simply faded from memory. At least that’s how I understood the OT.

That's part of it, but honestly I was just thinking of old stuff. I was going to post my first blog but it seems the provider finally shut their blog system down! It was absolutely terrible.

Well, I still have a LiveJournal that I've been meaning to use but it's nothing here recently. I use to have a Xanga. I can't remember if I deleted my accounts there (I believe I did). Those were my first social media accounts... long before myspace and facebook.

GTF will only be remembered by those of us who participated in it all these years.

Rotten.com was always a big site growing up. It was the go to site for morbid fuck's like me.

I recently seen a video that said a lot of it was fake. But a 12 year old me was fascinated by seeing tupacs "autopsy" photos. :D

Dude, there were so many. Limewire, BearShare, Kazaa, Napster, and a whole bunch that I can't even remember. Only Spotify was able to make me actually "buy" music.
