Travel Advice Needed

Unread postby Wannabes1ut » 5 April 2021, 20:14

Apologies if this is in the wrong place, am new here. Browsed this forum a few times and always found it interesting so decided to join as I need some advice on a vacation I'm planning. With covid putting a halt to any travel plans I had over the last year and a half and having saved up a bit of money with working from home and lockdowns, I have decided to treat myself to big trip in 2022. I'm a single gay man who has to tone down my more flamboyant/queer side in my day to day life so want to go somewhere where I can be completely myself and have some fun. I was hoping to get some advice on possible destinations. Am based in the UK but am open to travelling anywhere. My ideal destination would include most (if not all) of the following:

Active Cruising scene
LGBT Friendly/Safe
Gay Neighbourhood (not absolutely necessary but would be handy)
Male-only hotels/resorts (extra points if they're clothing optional)

Also interested to know if anyone has done a gay-only cruise and, if so, what their experience was?

Many thanks in advance

Have you given any consideration to Ouagadougou?

It has none of the things you asked for, well, at least that I know of, but it is fun to say. Ouagadougou.

In all seriousness, knowing the community as I do, I don’t think you’re gonna get many recommendations. We’re not a crowd that prioritises the availability having sex in some woods with strangers in our holiday plans.

Well, except maybe Severelius, he’s an absolute strumpet.

The rest of us want boring things, like beaches and the sea and cultural enrichment. Oh, and an all-inclusive buffet. Between eating all I can and trying to find time to visit a local attraction between chapters of my book on the beach, I’m not sure I could even find time to go and have sex in a local woodland with a man who was both a stranger and didn’t speak my language. But I suppose chat isn’t really the name of the game.

Aren’t there specific gay focussed travel agents that could help you?

There are quicker and cheaper ways to get HIV, I'm sure.

I don't have the confidence necessary to be a strumpet and you damn well know that.

Well, Mykonos is the place to be. There's parties, there's great nightlife and plenty of sex if you looking to hook up. I'm from Greece and Mykonos is one of the best destinations for a party vacation for sure! You can be your self, no one will judge you etc. It's one of the most LGBT friendly destinations in the world.

Dunno about a male only hotel there but trust me it dosn't matter. Also there's gay cruises around Mykonos and
Elia Beach is a must also!

So if you look closely the links mentioned above you will find that you are covered if you choose that destination!

Also I would recommend a short stay in Athens before hand. Why? Cause unlike Mykonos that's only party-party time, you can have a fine balance between party and a nice relaxing vibe.

You can get your batteries full, see some sights (like the obvious ones, like Parthenon,Acropolis New Museum! ), walk in the flea market of Monastiraki, have a nice cold one around Plaka, the usual tourist-y stuff and when you need to up the ante and have fun you can go straight to the Gazi district!

Why Gazi? Because it's the heart of the LGBT community with Saunas, Clubs, Cafes, Shops all there to choose from!

You have your clubs like Sodade and Noiz that are usually packed, with fair priced drinks (I prefer Sodade btw)

You have your naughty sauna time Great events are hosted there. I think they have like one or two special events every week. And it's not high priced. I think it's like 10 euros for entry? Something like that.

Also, they have an appartment hotel that caters only to men, just like you asked about. Check it here

And you can gear up at this sex shop that's located in the same area of Gazi, with many stuff to choose from. As they say: "never go unprepared to the battle...And if you go to look for fun, then at least a bottle of good lube is essential :D :D :D

As for food, I would recommend places like Rooster Cafe at Plateia Agia Eirinis (they don't have a website but you will find it on google maps, it's a little further than Gazi), Best Taste at Petralona for the no1 souvlaki gyros in Athens (a neighborhood that's like a 10 min walk from Gazi) and Myrovolos at Keramikos/Gazi (you will find it on google maps also)

That's about it, in a nutshell. But if you guys like I can do a more complete guide of Athens, since it's my hometown! Hope you will find the stuff about Mykonos and Athens helpful and book a well deserved vacation, since I can relate with the lockdowns and the whole COVID thing. I'm planning to visit the US (again) or Tokyo Japan for the first time (yayyyy) so I can't wait to get outa here! :D :D

Try Maspalomas in Canary Islands. Has all the things you listed and there's direct flights from UK. And it's got several massive gay nudist beaches so no need to pack any clothes.

oh cum now! he's also been actively saving up his PReP meds! (but that won't spare one from those other STD variants in the wild)

And while I'll make a couple jokes since I've got no idea what to suggest - I mean, are there gay neighborhoods any more? Are P-town and Key West still a thing now that gay means putting a ring on it and spawning ... It just seems like someone needs to suggest time travel, but then again, I haven't traveled much in the last 25 years.

I'll ask the OP: what online research have your done and what has that shown you? (I'm curious more than anything now.)
