I never had anyone to celebrate Valentine's day but maybe just do something that he'll enjoy? Does people still give chocolate and roses?

If I were to celebrate Valentine's day I wouldn't go for a dinner and movie because it's kinda boring. But then I wouldn't want to stay at home either, maybe take my dog for a walk on the beach at night?

My fiancé and I are actually busing to New York to visit my family for a couple weeks. It leaves at 5pm and gets to NYC at 5am. Nothing says romance like a long uncomfortable overnight bus ride. My Valentine's hope is just that everything goes well and we get to sit with each other.

Go (together, of course) to a Saudi consulate or embassy and ask for the special ‘Valentine's Day Visa’. Then twitter about your experience on Valentine's Day.

Saudi Arabia

In Saudi Arabia, in 2002 and 2008, religious police banned the sale of all Valentine's Day items, telling shop workers to remove any red items, because the day is considered a Christian holiday.[135][136]

This ban has created a black market for roses and wrapping paper.[136][137]

In 2012, the religious police arrested more than 140 Muslims for celebrating the holiday, and confiscated all red roses from flower shops.[138] Muslims are not allowed to celebrate the holiday, and non-Muslims can celebrate only behind closed doors.[139]

"Saudi cleric Sheikh Muhammad Al-'Arifi said on Valentine's Day Eve that celebrating this holiday constitutes bid'a – a forbidden innovation and deviation from religious law and custom – and mimicry of the West."[140][141]

However, in 2017 and 2018, after a fatwa was widely circulated, the religious police did not prevent Muslims from celebrating the day. [142] (Wikipedia)

Valentine's day isn't celebrated here in Brazil. Instead we have "Dia dos Namorados", which roughly translates to "Lovers' Day", and it's in June. Other than the different day, the holiday goes the same way as Valentine's Day. Usually I just go for dinner and a nice evening together. If I'm feeling especially frisky, maybe a motel at night (motels here are also different, instead of being for travelers on a dime, they're very specialized towards sex and the rooms are really good).

The Civ 6 expansion comes out on Valentine's day. I'm going to buy some wine and have a nice romantic evening with Eleanor of Aquitane.

Well I'm single as f (I've told myself its by choice but I do wonder), so I'll probably just stay in and do work, play games, maybe find a meaningless hookup, the usual stuff.

But i'm glad you're in a new relationship and hope it goes well! You mentioned ideas for valentines day, if it were me, i'd probably just get a card and write something really nice in it, plus a small gift you'd think he'd like, even if its just the traditional flowers and chocolate, and probably a meal out at a restaurant.

Id say if you know him well enough replace the flowers and chocolates with something small and more sentimental. To be honest, if the relationship is new he probably won't even be expecting that much, and you don't wanna scare him off with a full declaration of your love anyways :D

Meaningless could become meaningful in a day like this :)

For the first time in years, I will be without a lover, but I do not mind. I find the whole thing, how it is today, commercial shit. Just like Christmas and Easter and such. When I was still with my partner, we did dine out, but that was not something we only did on special occasions.
He was a true romantic and loved to spoil me anyway. We did not need a day for that.

That's the best plan I've seen so far.

Or you might be left with the feeling you should have just spent the night with a prostrate toy.

Alright, so. My grandmother went away this morning for an elderly group's trip in the Pantanal and I have the whole house to myself. I invited my boyfriend over to stay with me for the whole five days. He usually sleeps here when we go out on the weekends but it's a little more comfortable if it's just the two of us.

Today I told him I'd be going to the gym and that he could come after. He said he won't be able to make it today because tomorrow he'll be visiting two businesses (he's looking for a new job, since the company we used to work for closed). I was happy that he had new opportunities coming up but can't help but feel annoyed that he doesn't even want to see me. It's not like us hanging out prevents him from going home afterwards and resting for tomorrow.

Then it hit me that today is Valentine's Day, and we've both lived in the US for a while so I guess I give today some value. It would be nice to have him with me. I feel lonely now.
