AJIN: Demi Human, it's on netflix atm and I love the animation. It's really tight. The voice acting is damn good for an Animé, very little of that over acting you get alot of the time and so far the story has been more cohesive than I've come to expect from some Animé.

Really liking it.

I'm re-watching my favorite anime of all time the slayers atm .

And waiting for attack on titan season 3 to end so i can binge watch it with my brother !!

Btw guys what do you think of old anime? say 80s-90s vs 00s-10s ??
Do you think they used to look better ? or now it's the best time for anime ???

I mean i really miss anime like A-ko / tank police / vampire princess miyu / and so on from the late 80s ... that Slowness and Mature themes is no where to be found in modern anime Imo .. also i miss the way they looked ..

Really want to hear what you think , and maybe can recommend some new anime that fits the genre cuz i can't for the life of me Seem to find any new animes like that !!!!
you won't find me here i'm deleting my account .

It was the Animé from the 80's and 90's that first got me into watching Animé in general and inspired the slight weebo in me too!

That and ninjas :D

I think the first Animé I ever saw, was called Cyber City Oedo 808, it's actually pretty bad, but at the time, it was so new and fresh for me. I was up late as a teenager and channel 4 had a late night Manga schedule (Manga Entertainment, being the company that brought Japanese Animé west) For the longest time, Animé was just Manga to me.

That led into some late nights sitting up, watching what was very mature cartoons by my standards. I loved 3x3 eyes, the first two episodes were mature, dark and had some exceptional themes. After a hiatus (couple of years), they released the following three episodes but they had become abit more colourful, more cutesy and the story kinda unraveled abit for me. I wasn't a fan.

Devilman was also mature, but more in it's attention to gratuitous violence and nudity, swearing. Being a teenager, I loved it, but looking back, it is abit mono-dimensional and the new Devilman Crybaby, tends towards the same for me.

I feel in love with The Guyver, it spoke to the angsty teen in me and I remember buying the whole series on VHS tape. :P That makes me feel old "Gather around the snap chat, children! let me tell you of, THE LANDLINE!" :D THe second half of that series run had a serious drop in quality sadly.

I moved onto the classic Animé Movies, Akira, Ninja Scrolls (still one of the best Animé movies out there imho) and others like them.

I remember Shadow Skill, the voice acting was bad, but I liked the animation style and the music in the british Dub version was pretty bad ass too.

Battle Angel: Alita, has a different name in the states I believe. Loved that.

Ghost in the Shell, the original, I kinda started to watch alot less Animé when that came out, but it was a good one. Never watched the spin offs or sequels.

I grew up on Ulysses 31, that really was good for the time, but haven't seen ti since I was kid so can't speak to weather it has held upto the test of time.

There are so many more I can't remember, I still own some of the vhs tapes that are in storage (gods know why I still have them  )

As to the quality of Animé then, compared to now. I tend to think that Anime filled a niché back then, it was less mainstream and it tended to deal with more eclectic themes. Some animé had great art styles but some were alot less exemplary. I did prefer those that were more serious and adult (not so much in the over the top violence, but that didn't shy away from dealing with difficult subject matters or acknowledging that swearing was a thing.)

Today, I think Animé has grown into it;s own and become far more mainstream, meaing there is alot more variety out there. I think Animation itself has come along in leaps and bounds. But as it has become more prolific, theres also alot more fluff and misfires than before, but over all, the really good Animé, is really good.

i LOVED Manga Entertainment i miss their voice dubbing ... i don't watch anime in english Only if it's made by Manga Entertainment UK voices !! Tank police / Ranma /vampire princess Miyu /A-KO/AKIRA/Ultimate teacher lol ... i Also have them on vas hahaha ... so i Know what you mean there ^_6 .

is 3×3 Eyes any good i remember in 1997 there was a coverage on it in a game magazine ...I think it was Game fan ?? or EGM ?? not sure and i was Very VERY intrigued but idk why i didn't watch it yet .... Think i should ?

Also PopTart I agree 100% on what you said about anime being grown into it's own mainstream .... But i miss when it was More mature and expensive .... I mean nowadays you have ALOT of anime and mostly they feel the same or always Cater to teenagers or a certain kind of audiance "OTAKU" to be exact , i mean i wish it could get back at being just a tiny bit more ..slower in a sense ..as in no joking around or being "Ahh i feel on this girl and i touched her boob by mistake and then i get slapped " .....
Ans strangely the production can be cheap as well sometimes ,Like junji ito's collection "DON'T get me started on that!!

ps/i REALLY enjoyed your post in case you couldn't tell ^_6 , I LOVE having long conversations and posts to engage with !!

Then you'll likely remember this :P

Used to love it as a kid.

Some UK Dubs were better and some weren't in my experience :D
Battle Angel Alita was one of those better ones, by a long shot.

Most of those Animé's ring a bell.

As to 3x3 I loved, and I mean, Loved it! The first two, but the last three parts, I didn't like, it was more immature I find. It did stay pretty much faithful to the manga from what I can figure. Ymmv.

After a long binge of Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi with a buddy I felt like I needed some gore so I decided to take a peek into the first few episodes of Goblin Slayer. Can't say I like it; this season just seems a bit blah for me for anime in general.

:3 :3 :3 Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi? :3 :3 :3

I'm embarrased to admit, i kinda loved that! Ritsu and Tokano are so cute. I know it's typical BL shit, but I just melt for it everytime. Oh the shame!, The shame!

I got a friend to watch Junjou Romantica with me once, because i found it flat out hilarious, but he just kept looking at me with a "WTF?" look on his face. I felt I went down in his estimation after a couple of episodes. :runaway:

Omg I've watched both Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi and Junjou Romantica and I loved them!!

I was always too ashamed to share it 'cos of it being BL and all but OMG I LOVED THEM, JR especially. I watched them the first time when I was 15 I think, I'm not a huge binger of anime but those two I fell in love with. I honestly think they helped me realise I was gay, I hope that's not too sad :P

I remember looking up to Misaki as a 15 or 16 year old and wanting to be like him lol. I don't know if that's normal =/

Welp maybe I'm oversharing but first all the Annie Lennox love and now this, I'm getting way too excited :P

Nah, don't be ashamed, I was only messing. They are fun animes. Well, JR is fun, I think SIH can be a tad too serious but it benefits from it as it gives it more depth and a different texture to JR.

It's ok to like different things Splash, you needn't worry quite so much about what others think, a little bit is all well and good, but just be yourself and let yourself be comfortable.

I love the BL stuff; it kinda started as an obsession after I discovered gravitation....then it went downhill. I've come to embrace my being a fudanshi. With some exceptions of course, I can't get on board with the Pico no pico or killing stalking sort.

I too am something of a fudanshi, I totally ship characters that really don't work for anyone else, but i see the subtle hidden relationships in the making!
