Wondering if my relatively frequent refreshing of the tracking pages for the packages I'm expecting from India, Russia, Bulgaria, and Arizona constitutes obsessive behaviour.

Probably. But I do it as well when I am impatiently waiting for something.

I wonder if they keep a statistic of how often tracking information is requested for each package. And I wonder how over the average my tracking numbers are.

You should see me when I'm expecting something super-exciting like the latest flagship phone
I've actually taken to paying extra for the fastest shipping method in such cases because I'll lose more money from the downtime spent thinking about the damn thing :P

I pay for fast shipping as well sometimes. Usually when I can select the carrier directly and there isn’t too much difference. Or if I really want the thing.

That leads me to my complaint about amazon - there is no way of selecting who will deliver the package. Even with expedited delivery you will sometimes get the slower carrier. Granted the package will probably be shipped faster, but still.

Here, our Prime deliveries are virtually always done by Amazon's own drivers. Very rarely, they've come by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which is a very high-quality tracked service with guaranteed delivery by 13:00 the day after it's shipped. (Of course as Prime members we simply pay for a year of as-fast-as-possible delivery on all orders plus Prime Video streaming.) So we are lucky not to have such problems. :D

Of course. There is no Prime here and certainly no Amazon drivers. Here it really depends from where they ship the thing. Sometimes it is the UK, sometimes Italy, sometimes France, sometimes Germany, sometimes Poland, ...

In my experience UPS > DHL Express > Royal mail/Deutsche Post/Austrian Post/... > all others
Luckily Amazon at least doesn't use any from the "all others" category. Usually it's either UPS or one of the local delivery companies and they all do a very good job. UPS is faster and their delivery guys seem very nice and professional. They are very flexible if you are not at home as well - from leaving it at the neighbor or coming by later. While slower the most hassle free are the national post companies though. Final delivery is done via the local post office and they will just leave you a note if you are not home and you just go to the post office and pick the thing up when you want.

They're actually, literally digestive biscuits! Not just wholewheat biscuits that people in the 1800s thought helped digestion. :D

Tonight I was creating the Gnome city of Unix for the RPG game after work. It needs to look whimsical, and user friendly. :P

Actually I enjoy that day because I know daylight hours start to grow longer.Sounds like from your other post you had a good time in the Big Apple. Did you piss on Trump Tower? I guess one would not want to be caught fragrantly in that act. However one might visit the rest room and accidentally miss.

For me, tequila shot from your navel.

By the way, it’s Super Bowl Sunday tomorrow. Does anyone in England watch this as well or do your people have the food decency to ignore it?

On this occasion, Scottish whiskey :P

I drank milk. :)

We had a really nice evening, made some great friends and even got invited to a £60k wedding in Portugal with accommodation paid for. :D

I think we've somehow joined a group of friends. This feels so weird.

Anyway, it was a group of people all around our age who all have apartments in our little gated community, including one other gay couple, one straight couple and one unattached girl. The straight couple especially is really fun; they're the ones getting married, and the guy walked back across the hall to their apartment to bring over like 15 kinds of Scottish whiskey for Brenden to try. :P He assured me it was the water of life but I declined and stuck to my milk. :)

Somehow even though we were the only ones who couldn't afford to buy our apartment when we moved in and were forced to rent, we easily have the biggest one in the group, with the biggest living room, balcony and main bathroom :P

I brought some red wine and Prosecco, but no one else was having any red wine so I didn't either. I had a glass of Prosecco at the beginning of the evening but then after the guy brought all the Scotch, I just had that — too much, in fact. I think 4 glasses.

So I got drunk for like the third time in my life, threw up when we got home (around 3 am!), and had the worst hangover ever this morning.

It was really fun! Lots of nice conversation with nice people. The gay couple at whose apartment we were have a little puppy who was so cute.

Did you keep drinking afterwards?

I only ask because I had to introduce one of my American friends to a manoeuvre known as the "tactical chunder", whereby one vomits so as to continue drinking.

He was horrified.
