I've been working on this.

I feel I've made Marie Antoinette too pretty, but I think it isn't too bad. This picture had landed me an offer to become a computer illustrator/graphic designer for an online game to which I am hesitant to decide if I am willing to accept. It is one thing to draw in one's spare time what they love and quite another to work on a paid commission. I feel I'd be miserable.

Apart from the aforementioned picture, I feel I finally finished this one. It is of Lady Fuchsia Groan from the Gormenghast trilogies which I am mildly obsessed with.

I have been working on this for a couple of years and keep modifying and changing it. I think I am at last pleased with the end result.

Eh, I'm just making breakfast and coffee. I've apparently awoken very early in morning, for once. I suppose that's probably good, since I've literally slept away the last three days.

I’m getting ready for work. I’ve done an ice compress, my pain med regimen and soon a shower to get my back ready for this. I’m in much less pain than last week so I think I can handle it.

I'm reflecting on a great many things.

I know what I want and I know who I want to be with. Figuring out how to get from where I am, to where I want to be. That's the challenge for me right now.

I'm writing a lengthy essay about beauty and philosophical aesthetics for one of my professors; it's going well and I'm actually enjoying it more than a little. I've been able to work myself into a state of ADHD hyperfocus for the past few hours, so the research and writing seems neither tedious nor boring—though in the past week there've been many days where it's seemed so. Oh, also, here's a bit of a spoiler: Hume's written views on the subject, though nicely and (occasionally) charmingly expressed, are wrong, as his theories tend to be on my opinion of things. Given that the essay is due this Friday, I'm hoping to finish it by tonight (i.e., Wednesday night), so that that way I might then spend tomorrow (Thursday) reworking and editing whatever portions of it seem unsatisfactory.

Getting back to our boyfriend in America the cheapest way we can — train from Scotland to Holyhead, Wales, ferry to Dublin, Ireland, plane to Washington, D.C. :P

For some reason a combined Rail & Sail ticket from Scotland to Dublin costs just £46, almost ⅔ less than the cost of a train ticket that just goes to the port in Wales (£125).

Crazy innit? My flight is costing the better part of £1,500 :runaway:

I wont even mention the cost of three months worth of accommodation, car rental etc. I am going to be returning to the UK a much poorer man (financially, hopefully in terms of happiness, I'll be all the richer)

The trick is to make your way to Dublin and fly from there. The cheapest tickets are always reserved for the Irish, so you have to pretend to be one of them.

Even flying British Airways, you're better off going to Dublin, then from Dublin via London to your destination. :runaway:

Rural England is so good for these sorts of things around this time of year. I was in the Cotswolds last weekend and stopped at a strawberry stand shaped like a giant strawberry, the week before bought cherries from a lay-by in Norfolk.

Apparently the recent heatwave has led to be a bit of a surge in fruit crops in the UK, with farmers having bumper crops and more produce than they know what to do with.

Now with our boyfriend, getting ready for the trip within a trip: flying off to Las Vegas tonight for a hacker convention and to see a cousin of Brenden's, followed by seeing Brenden's mom and stepdad in Arizona. :keke:
