Have you ever tried adding either hickory or mesquite liquid smoke to your bbq sauce? It seems so unhealthy and yet so...American?

Also, why do your people insist on serving tacos with the condiments already in them? I thought you guys were always about freedom this and freedom that.

As a general rule, food is tastier the more carcinogenic it is.

I like how this implies you don't consider yourself an American. The white supremacists would be pleased you've internalized their perspective.

I’m pretty sure there’s a difference between being an American and being an American who constantly goes on his knees to blow its country about how free and awesome it is at everything. That’s your people’s hobby.

Out of curiosity and without intending disrespect, do you suspect your Trump-supporting mother is to an extent a white supremacist? If you brought home a Latino boyfriend would this embolden her in her nativist rage?

No, she's not a racist, at least not in the traditional sense that she holds specific prejudices towards some groups. She's racist in the tumblr sense in that she would refuse to acknowledge the premise of racial privilege or (more broadly) that race should be acknowledged in politics or academics.

Does anyone here they have a family recipe to share? Tomorrow I’ll be preparing a bacalao and asked my mother for her recipe. Now I’m curious to see what gems the rest of you are greedily hiding.

I think this is a great idea for a thread.
"The GFO family cookbook" or something. :3

I just had Dinty Moore beef stew tonight. Didn't feel much like cooking and it was cold and windy out. So soup was good for a day like today.

.

May be worth pursuing, and ad hoc publishing for GFO hosting money.

It is 1:17am, I work at 6. I am hungry and remembered that I had a leftover burger in the fridge. Learned that the hotel room microwave is busted, I am so not getting dressed to go use the one in the lobby.

I just reheated a burger using the warming plate on a hotel coffee maker, with a bit of aluminum foil as the pan. It’s like I’m in college again!

^ Are those cocoa-dusted marzipan balls? I've been watching a series about the potato famine, and I feel like they're really culturally insensitive. :|

I don't think there's any relationship to the potato famine.
And nah there like a coconut cream with a cinnamon coating.
There made locally but literally EVERY store around here sells them around St Patricks day.

I've always wondered how far they go into the USA.
