Just ate some ube ice cream from Trader Joe’s. It was decent but honestly the best brand of ice cream I’ve had so far is Private Selection from Ralph’s. It beats out all the ice creams from other supermarkets including Whole-Foods which just have dense and flavorless (or horridly flavored) ice cream. Private Selection doesn’t just have interesting flavor combos but has a nice consistency and flavor balance. If anyone can find a better store bought brand let me know, but those are big shoes to fill.

I can't comment about ice cream, since I haven't had any in years. But I think Private Selection is a Kroger house brand, and I've been happy with their house brand products. Indeed, one irritation with shopping recently when the store might be wiped out of many things is that I've been forced to buy the more expensive national brand, and most of the time there is no advantage to doing so.

Earlier, I had some strawberries with an almond coconut plant milk blend. I thought I'd try it, remembering when my mother served fruit with (probably) half and half. (I can't remember if she did this with strawberries.) I ate it, but I doubt I'll rush to have strawberries this way again... Maybe a different plant milk would work better.

On a related note...I really like spring/summer fruit season...although it can be hard on my budget. Blueberries were a real budget breaker last summer.
