See René’s post above!

CBD is the cannabinoid that most counteracts THC and has a very relaxing, calming effect.

So if CBD is the relaxing shit, what the hell is THC when it's at home?

God, drugs are confusing. No wonder my mum always told me to stay away from them.

I’m gonna assume “at home” is an autocorrect of “alone”. :P

THC is more the psychedelic and stimulating stuff, which can make you giggly or see interesting patterns or appreciate music more etc. So in cannabis the two are typically balanced. Almost no one consumes THC on its own recreationally.

Actually "at home" is a saying I got from my dad. It's his way of asking just what something is in general. So "what is THC?" becomes "what's THC when it's at home?"

And no I don't know why that's a phrase he uses, I've just unconsciously assimilated it over time.

So THC is the 'high' shit and CBD is the 'mellow' shit, basically?

Yeah I definitely need the mellow shit.

The mellow shit on its own is legal in the UK now! Unfortunately it’s super expensive.

Is it cheaper than therapy?

Because if so, I will buy it.

You're probably better off doing both cbd and therapy. sometimes you have to do both.

There is no appropriate combination of words in the English language to adequately explain how absolutely shit-terrified of therapy I am.

Cannabis concentrates contain a very similar profile of cannabinoids as the cannabis they are made from.

If they were dabbing pure THC they’d be tripping, not just high. They almost certainly aren’t.

Therapy is scary... but with success is taking a bit of a risk. What are you afraid of? what's worse, going through some difficult times in therapy or live your life dealing with it all the time... avoiding therapy and just taking meds may be risky and you can't fix mental illness with just drugs.

dot quite sure. All I know is that I took one hit off the nectar collector and was laughing and telling people to go fuck themselves and I was watching them laugh at me and I was like "you fuckers are talking about me behind my back" and well it was damn... I've not had a high like that.

It's a fundamental catch-22 of my ludicrously inconvenient anxiety. I need therapy to be able to work towards resolving it, but the nature of the anxiety itself means the idea of opening up and being honest with another human being in any kind of personal context fills me with instinctive dread and utter panic.

There's a reason I spent most of my life as a compulsive liar.

Therapy is what you make it really. you gotta be your own advocate too. sometimes you have to kiss a few frogs to get your prince charming (lack of a better analogy.)

The sad thing is... the sort of dosages used in the studies that indicate CBD is effective for treating problems like anxiety are often as high as 600 mg/day, which can be 2 whole 10 ml bottles of CBD oil per day (depending on concentration). It's possible you'll get some benefit from less, so could be worth trying, but the prices and concentrations will have to get a lot better before people are going to see the full medical benefits at the levels studies have shown it can have.

It is possible to make your own tincture, which simply requires some good weed, the highest percent proof alcohol you can get and a willingness to stink out you home for a day or two.

And caution as you have to heat the high proof alcohol on a hob. Risky business, extractor fans recommended, open flames not.

But relatively inexpensive and really quite potent.

Isn't an oil extraction better, though?

What are your thoughts on St. John's Wort, if you've any experience? In my experience, it certainly could have reduced anxious feelings (consider placebo, etc etc). It's a bit cheaper than CBD oil, if using higher doses, I think.

I've never tried it myself, but I would certainly expect it to be helpful for at least some people struggling with anxiety and/or depression. It seems worth trying for someone like Severelius and should definitely be a far cheaper option than CBD oil at this point.
