What are you thinking at the moment?

What are you thinking at the moment?

Unread postby poolerboy0077 » 30 January 2014, 01:58

Just finished watching JB's new music video and read a few comments by fanatical Beliebers. So what am I thinking at the moment? I have a suspicion that most girls start off having Stockholm Syndrome and the majority shed this adolescent state of mind as they grow older with only a few having the misfortune of carrying it over to their adult relationships. Somebody should study this.

Skinny packs. I've liked them at times, I've wanted one at times. But now I kinda see them like they're knock off iphones or no brand cars that closely resemble performance works i.e. something that shouldn't be encouraged.

I am thinking about a steam engine shown in blueprints for a steam launch from 1896 buried in the sheets of blueprints I found of an 1896 French cruiser. A sub section included a sheet on the steam engine:

I am thinking about what would be involved in building a live scale model down in the shop. My copy is 7000x5700 pixels so if I got it printed at full size I could make detailed measurements, it's drawn to scale. I'll have to read L.B.S.C.'s book on building steam engines, I would need to know more about clearances and tolerances first. I mean I would be able to make one if I had the full blueprints with all the sizes worked out for the individual pieces, but I don't - so I would have to draw them out myself using that knowledge I don't currently have to judge the proper sizing for the areas of them not visible from the one sheet I have.

It would make an excellent project/way to occupy my mind for days when I can't walk.

Actually the scale is 1/5 so if I can find out what the units of measurement are I can size out what the actual size is as well as get sheets of drawings printed to be the correct size for the scale I want to build thus making them the final set of drawings I have printed the exact scale (1:1) of the size of my model. Would make drawing out the individual pieces a hell of a lot easier math wise.

Why is it that it feel "like spring" coming from 0 degrees F to 20 degrees F today. I feel "warmth" when I'm outside yet there is barely a sun. One thing for sure, I'm stick of winter! I can't believe we got at least 1 more month of this nonsense. And it's not even trying to get any warmer.
I wonder how many people know this is down here

I just got tattoo work done last night and I don't remember it not hurting this much. The last time I got inked was three years ago and it hurt like a bitch the next day. :O

Traditional weddings, and especially their budgets, come off as incredibly selfish and egotistic to me.

My and René's wedding will be much more focused on providing a really great time for our guests — good food and entertainment and drinks. Not having everyone sit in uncomfortable seats for an hour staring at us and then eat disgusting dry cake meant only to glorify us by having likenesses standing atop tiers of dry fondant.

Dreading going to court in a little over a week. Damn my debts!! :(
disclaimer: I post here on my iPhone so I apologise for any dodgy auto corrects. My grammar/spelling isn't that bad, honestly. I mean, look at that - it didn't even capitalise the 'd' in disclaimer.
Hi. You there. Feeling like you're ready to jump off a bridge? Take a step back and talk to someone. Maybe even me... The bridge will still be there tomorrow. Seriously. Gimme a message you numpty. Whoever you are.

Aside from better weather, is there an argument for South Africa over The UK? Is it cheaper? I always thought South Africa was a fairly expensive place.

The university we partner with in South Africa is slightly easier to access financially as I pay more through my current school than I would for any of the English schools (finances, however, aren't really a huge issue, because my university is probably the best in the state for helping students out financially in studying abroad -- they're very big on their students receiving a global education), and the courses offered at that university seem more in line with my concentration on classical languages and literature, whereas the English schools seem slightly more concerned with classical archaeology. Also, South Africa is further afield and probably culturally more different from the United States than England, so would likely serve to broaden my horizons more.

That said, I've always wanted to visit England and have several friends there.

EDIT: Also, I do have a somewhat unhealthy obsession with Doctor Who, I enjoy the BBC's Sherlock, and my favorite band is the Beatles -- I worry that in England I would be dismissed as an annoying generic American weeaboo-style anglophile or something.

Wondering why Davey has a pic of a man in drag attempting (but failing) to look like Lara Croft for his avatar.

His avatar is a woman named Morrigan from the game Dragon Age: Origins. Yeah it rhymes, so what? Wanna fight about it?

OT: I wonder if the reason aliens don't visit earth is because they've seen all the movies we've made about humans defeating aliens, and they think we're really bad ass. I feel like it is.

But how can you be so sure that the aliens don't visit or walk amongst us?
