I’m incapable of perceiving your sarcasm. Next time please use /s and treat me like the eight-year-old redditor I am.

Thinking about what colour of mask to wear to go shopping. Somehow, I'm like my mum now.

It was a subliminal prevision that never led me to reddit. Must be like youtube commentary section deluxe.
Whole internet seems to overflow with that type of communities.
I could be tempted with some banksy artwork, to think about. Though one never can imagine what they will get one into from there.
It was a mistake already, to do pintrest. I wanted to find cute dudes in scally lad styles and shiny tracksuits, and now they suggest obese blob people in tight bikinis :noes:
I need to go for a hike! If I just know what colour a mask to wear. Treebark or woodland camo?
If ya want to hang with me, let's go windsurfing!

I like reddit. That’s where I learned how to make lactose-free mac and cheese with a gluten-free sourdough bread bowl. Alas, the noodles had gluten, and that’s how I killed for the first time

I lurk on shady niche political/theory subs and post basically never. I'm also in the archaeology sub, but it's mostly people posting about ancient aliens and other such... alternative theories, with the occasional "I'm a bonafide archaeologist" circlejerk. Some pot subs which are sometimes quite entertaining, and the rest is weird music and bizarre surrealist humour, where I find my refuge.

How many need to die before you curtail your culinary misadventures, Simon? :argh:

Aahh, well, fortunately I'm on furlough as I recieved one of those special shielding letters and work booted me out. Go figure. But honestly, I've been loving all the free time. It's like being a teenager again.

By and large I'm good. Life is comfortable. You?

That’s good then :) Yeah I’m good, miss seeing the family and friends but although I just whinged about needing a day off, work has been pretty good at keeping me occupied.

I've seen three counts of people commenting that "COVID has now killed 30,000 Britons, which equates to half of all Britons killed in WW2", but that's not true, they're confusing civilian dead (60,000+) for military dead (350,000+)*. I didn't see the report that this popular fact stems from, but I'm wondering if they phrased it badly, given that I keep seeing the misconception.

Also, 30,000... Fuck.

EDIT: *After a quick check, that's including those from British colonial forces, but not including Indian forces, apparently.

It's a high figure to be sure. I do remind myself how much worse it could be.

I saw one of those videos of Americans protesting lockdown and comparing it to the flu, which is a forgivable mistake I guess. There is some similarity.

But it got me o considering the real potential threat of the virus for myself.

Considering how infectious the virus is, with 100% infection rate here in the UK, and a morbidity rate of just 1% that's still 666,500 deaths. With the morbidity rate we've seen some 4% that's over 2.6 million. Even at a 50% infection rate, only half the population getting sick, that's a potential 1.3 million dead at the highest morbidity rate.

For the US the figures are obviously higher. 100% infection with 1% morbidity, is 3.3 million dead, at 4% morbidity, 13.2 million death toll, at a more reasonable 50% infection rate, 6.6 million dead.

Which ever way we slice it, the world has, collectively, done an amazing job at containing the spread of the disease thus far, I think that is lost sometimes, in all the arguements over how quickly lockdown was implemented and whether it's the right approach etc.

If nothing else, we certainly live in interesting times.

I think they look at numbers and forget everything else. Sure, in the UK we average a 10k deaths per year from flu, but that’s without lockdown and social distancing measures - which are simply unrealistic for that. I hope this pandemic has instilled better hygiene and a realisation that vaccines are necessary in at least some more people.
