Learning German would make the most sense considering my family tree but I just don't fancy learning that one specifically.

Learn Dutch! The Duolingo Dutch course is pretty good.

That is one I've considered.

For reasons that are known but very stupid to me my main preference would be Russian, followed by Italian.

Or Japanese but that one would be insanely difficult compared to the other choices.

Why Russian? If you're going to learn a Slavic language, I'd recommend Czech. It uses the Latin alphabet with relatively close/obvious pronunciations and is mutually intelligible with Slovak and, to a slightly lesser extent, Polish. So it makes a good entry into Slavic.

Russian is because I intermittently get absolutely obsessed with learning and reading about Russian history to the point where sometimes it feels like I know more about Russian history than I do about British history.

So the weird urge to learn Russian flows naturally on from that point.

Learn Bulgarian then. Our country was created 200 years before the Russian and they took the Cyrillic from us, modified it and changed its name. All Russians who learn philology learn Bulgarian language in order to study the evolution of the slavic language because ours is more rich than theirs in terms of words and other things. Last year I had to explain to a Russian (in English, ofc) about our articulation with nominative case because Bulgarian is the only language with such a thing. Many foreigners never learn it because there isn't a single teacher here who can explain it in a simple and understandable way.
Russian language has no articulation at all. English has only one articulation. Bulgarian has two types of articulations - nominative and objective case. If you're interested, I can explain it but without you knowing at least a bit Bulgarian, I'm not sure whether you'll understand it or not.

Everything is overwhelming. My anxiety is getting the best of me. I'm scared... Of everything right now. I don't know what's real and what's in my head.

I wasn't talking about drugs, actually. What I had in mind was simply the wrong mushrooms - those that look like the safe edible things but when you cook and eat them you can get anything from poisoning to a brutal diarrhoea.

Everyone's had random inappropriate sexual dreams about people they hate. Weird quirk of the subconscious, I guess.

Given my propensity for relentless snacking when bored or tired, I really need to find snacks that are actually healthy to mitigate the damage said snacking is doing.

Damn Walkers for making their crisps so fucking moreish.

I know I sound like a broken record right now. Anxiety sucks. Depression sucks. Schizophrenia sucks. I’m scared of my own existence and my ultimate ending. I want to have a piece of mind that’s all. Grounding skills... reality checking... telling the voices they’re wrong...my existence is a horror movie. I see demons lingering... spirits, mainly children, lingering too singing ring around the roses. In the hospital there was writings on the wall with blood that said die. Once looked to the mirror and saw my face deteriorate into a skull like figure. If I’m not seeing figures I’m in my head with the consent blabbing and insults to try to make me feel bad about myself and do things I don’t want to do. I’m crazy. A bit touched. But I don’t want to linger in self pity because there are those who had it worse. My mental state has decreased a lot for about 11 years... rapidly. I hope clozapine helps out.

My anxiety has sky rocket these past 3 weeks. I'm scared to go into a car and ride. I much rather stay home and that's not like me.

Me: I have some days off coming up so I should really put some time into watching more Star Trek or making progress with my re-watch of Bleach.

My brain, the absolute bastard: Psst... hey... you should start watching all of Doctor Who through again...

I'm not looking forward to tomorrow when I got to get into a car when going to do my blood work... I can't get past this feeling... we're all going to die.

I do this too, it's a coping mechanism that soothes anxiety. Because you already know how the stories end, it's comforting to watch them again knowing what to expect.

I do find myself lapsing into a desire to binge-watch old Doctor Who in periods of heightened stress/anxiety/depression. I think over the years I've just made Doctor Who my 'happy place' as a nice comforting presence that I know I'll always enjoy.

Do you guys think we've reached a new peak in the PC/un-PC cycle? I keep getting in arguments with people who think using an ablest slur makes you a right-wing reactionary.

Our boyfriend, a programmer, just told us he's been instructed to no longer use "blacklist" and "whitelist" in code.

One thing I’ve been thinking about is just how racist it is for whites to have a disproportionate amount of their ilk with natural blue eyes. I think the government ought to kidnap some of their kids and distribute them among the darkies equitably. Anything less is violence.

I do wonder, though, where this all will end. You’d think we’ve reached the decadent phase of PCness but then we go even lower. I better start using the word “niggardly” more liberally before I get a knee to the neck by the PC Police.
