What are you thinking at the moment?

Had a dream that my teeth were rotting and falling out with lots of blood. People were upset but I was not in the slightest even though I was apparently going to die. Very strange indeed.

It's not 5pm and I'm honestly fighting the urge to crawl into bed and curl up with a book. Am I officially an old person now?

Omg, me too today. As of today, I’ve got to isolate until Wednesday. I never just sit indoors all day. The heating is on and I’ve been fighting the urge to fall asleep since about 4.

I sit indoors all day every day. Today is my penultimate day of being able to before the dreaded return to work on Monday morning and I just want to bundle myself up with one of the like 5 books I have on the go.

But to do so would admit that at the tender age of 29 I have already become my father, and I refuse to acknowledge that.

There’s supposedly the ‘kiss of death’ in the mafia. Would the next level of that be considered the ‘anal sex of genocide?’

Give his absolutely horrific levels of overt racism, I really should just start naming someone other than H.P. Lovecraft when someone asks who my favourite author is...

I should go to sleep sooner or later, but I probably won't. I've too much I needs must do and, certainly, I know I've to think for quite some time on how, exactly, it is that I'm going to ever be able to fully recuperate my faded spirit.

So when Queen Elizabeth dies, Brits will have to change their anthem from “God save the Queen” to “God save the King,” at least after the coronation of her son Charles. But what happens when Brits decide, “Fuck the British monarchy, we’re abolishing it”? What then?

By then I imagine Scotland's may be:

Hark when the night is falling
Hear! hear the pipes are calling,
    Loudly and proudly calling,
    Down thro' the glen.
There where the hills are sleeping,
    Now feel the blood a-leaping,
High as the spirits of the old Highland men.

    Chorus:
    Towering in gallant fame,
    Scotland my mountain hame,
High may your proud standards gloriously wave,
    Land of my high endeavour,
    Land of the shining river,
Land of my heart for ever,
    Scotland the brave.

    High in the misty Highlands,
    Out by the purple islands,
Brave are the hearts that beat
    Beneath Scottish skies.
Wild are the winds to meet you,
Staunch are the friends that greet you,
Kind as the love that shines from fair maiden's eyes.

    (chorus)

    Far off in sunlit places,
    Sad are the Scottish faces,
    Yearning to feel the kiss
    Of sweet Scottish rain.
    Where tropic skies are beaming,
    Love sets the heart a-dreaming,
Longing and dreaming for the homeland again.

    (chorus)

And England's should most definitely be this incredibly beautiful and moving piece:

Scotland already has a National anthem, what’s wrong with Flower of Scotland? The Scots love it, at least the rugby fans do.

We can’t switch to Jerusalem. Can you imagine the Israel drama if we change our national anthem to “Oi! Jerusalem! Are you sure you’re not just making it up? Pretty sure Jerusalem is actually here in Glastonbury! Feelin’ like Jesus prolly came here!”?

I think we nearly switched to Jerusalem, I think George V preferred it to God Save The King.

I think we should write something new. If do give up monarchy, we should reflect a fresh start for the country with something new. Stop harking back to “Britannia Rules the Waves” bullshit from our distant past and get a grip.

The lyrics don't make sense post-independence. And technically it doesn't, as Westminster maintains anthem-setting is a reserved power not available to the devolved Scottish Parliament.

:pfft:

The song is allegorical and aspirational.

Marmaduke wrote:I think we nearly switched to Jerusalem, I think George V preferred it to God Save The King.

Yes he did but that would've upset the Scots, Welsh and Irish.

I may not have properly considered all of the ramifications of being vaccinated. I have lost my best excuse for getting out of social obligations. No one understands how difficult it is to be an antisocial asshole.

My mum, peddler of inane gossip that she is, insisted that today I simply must know that the youngest son of one of her friends has had a kid with his girlfriend. This is a kid I used to have to put up with when his mum and mine were gossiping, who drove me absolutely insane because he was 8 and I was having to put up with him when I was 16 and just wanted to be left the fuck alone, not have a hyperactive idiot foisted upon me.

Now I don't give a damn about children, or who has or has not had one. But my mum accompanied this news with a picture of said baby with the guy and his girlfriend. He's 21 now and literally my only single thought upon seeing this picture was "holy fuck he grew up hot!"

I haven't seen this guy in like a decade. Last time I saw him he was 10 or maybe 11. Now he's suddenly 21 and making my brain short-circuit with how insanely good-looking he is and I can't help but feel like such a weird lech for noticing it. :runaway:

That happened with two of my cousins. They’re both really hot now.

Scots are tasteless fuds. They ruined Scotland.

The anthem shall be Highland Cathedral, and if you disagree, you are wrong.

Fuck, you're right... There's about three postponed weddings lined up that I'll be more or less obliged to attend. I'll just have to hope I'm horribly maimed by construction machinery. That'll buy me an out. Fingers crossed. :P

Are any of you watching the Oscars live from Union Station? I kinda like this idea of doing it in various different venues of LA. I recommend doing the Dept of Water and Power building next followed by a Skid Row soup kitchen.

Btw, do you all think Zac Efron has had work done on his face recently? There are discussions about this on Twitter.
