If I only ate old-world foods, would that be woke or racist?

Either way I can’t imagine eating beef and barley all day every day. Good god, it’s a mystery how Europeans chugged along for this long without tomatoes, corn, avocados, vanilla or cacao.

I don't know. I could easily live on Indian food or Japanese food and never eat meat or a new-world crop again.

Have you ever had pre-Columbian Indian food, though?

well my understanding is corn tortillas (not chips) have remained pretty consistent over the millennia though I've little doubt that corn has changed.

I've also had a concoction of cocoa made "the traditional Aztec way" - I was able to drink it but prefer my own, slightly sweeter concoction that forgoes the corn.

The weirdest indigenous thing I’ve tried was ant eggs at an upscale restaurant. It had the texture of legumes.

I don't know but it's happening and actually looks like it might somehow be enjoyable to watch. The eye-candy alone in the trailer is to die for.

Why do people say they want NSA fun and then want something serious? NSA is a sacred acronym, it shouldn't be dishonored. I like being independent.

I don’t mean the remake, I mean the casting of Ansel.

He's hot, and he can sing and he can dance. Seems fine to me.

* this comment is in no way at all motivated by my massive crush on Ansel Elgort.

Random thought…

If I do get into a relationship… I want a “butch” female… idk what kind of man that I want… been with more men than women. It’s more comfortable with a women than a man in a relationship. Men can be scary sometimes especially when they try to so moves too fast… I know with a woman it’s not as likely for her to be a creep or rape and kill you and dump your body in a wooded area.

Can daddy long legs (or craneflies or whatever the fuck they are) create nests indoors? Because I'm starting to refuse to believe that all these fucking pricks are conveniently just finding their way into my room this fucking regularly.

At least once every other day I have to kill one, and I've had to kill three of the fuckers in here today.

Being single should not be so awkward.

For many years, if people asked if I was married and had kids, they would ask why or tell me I should absolutely do it.

Now I get people telling me I am lucky. Um, does that mean you hate your spouse and kids? I’m sure they would love to hear that. And why do you say it was luck? What if I desperately wanted to get married and have kids but nobody wants me? Why do people make such wild assumptions about my life?

Earth would be much better if I didn’t have to share it with other humans.

Yeah, fuck those guys for finding there’s more to you than first appeared.

It's not about what I'm like, it's about knowing what we want and expressing that before meeting up. There's a lot of guys I would fuck but can't stand their personality. Also a lot of hookups have this thing about cuddling. Sorry but they need to find someone to give them actual affection, I don't cuddle random hookups and I want to sleep solo in my own bed so I need that NSA to actually mean something.

You’re right, I’ve not afforded the Shakespearean tragedy that is your love life the gravitas it so clearly deserves. Heaven forfend you should afford someone intimacy, that would be like them stealing from you. Everyone else is just there for your use, Iago.

Your relationship with sex and intimacy is fucking dreadful. You should work on that. Like, I get casual relationships. Nobody is saying you need strings. But “I don’t cuddle random hook-ups” is right up there with “I don’t kiss guys” on the emotionally immature spectrum of infantile bullshit.

Only a child would summarise a cuddle in an intimate moment as “something serious”. Legitimately. A child. Not even in the double-digit age range.

The perfect relationship:

Finding someone who is willing to put up with your B.S.

But, seriously, I'm thinking about going school. I should say I'm going back to school, I've already been accepted. But now I'm having second thoughts. Like, how can I afford this without going bankrupt and selling my first born (good luck with that!) ? It's been a long time since I open a book, am I still student worthy, can I do it?

This has been the warmest October ever here in Ontario. There hasn’t been a single day so far below 15 degrees. Very few of the trees have changed colour too. Usually they’ll all be yellow and orange around now.

I'm in an awkward situation at work. The woman who replaced me after my promotion earlier this year is... doing a bad job. She keeps asking me for help, which results in me doing a days-long, complete forensic audit of something that would have taken me minutes to do correctly in the first place. She's incredibly incompetent and I don't know how to address it. I don't want to complain, I don't want her to be fired, but I can't keep banging my head against the wall.

What does she say about her mistakes when she comes to you? Have you considered having a candid conversation with her? Perhaps she could do with some manner of training to brush up on her skills or improve a shakey confidence.

Sooner or later, I think you'll have to do something about it, You can hardly be expected to do two jobs. You could find that she becomes reliant on you to fix her mistakes and never learns to do for herself.

In your place, I'd tactfully ask her if she feels confident in the role. If she says no, perhaps follow that up with some inquiries, find out if she might benefit from an evening course that could improve her skills. If you wanted to be mercenary, could be bothered and didn't mind sacrificing the time, you might even consider offering to provide some training for a small fee. It would be reasonable to expect to be remunerated for your time.

If however she claims to have everything in hand, I'd back off on carrying her quite so much. She might be out of her depth and unwilling to admit it or she might be taking advantage (maybe she screws up on purpose because she likes you and craves your attention :naughty: ) But either way, she needs to confront the fact that she is struggling in the role and either needs to train to the standard the role requires or... leave of her own volition. It's not the most pleasant thing to say, but sometimes that's just reality and not everyone is cut out for every role. No shame in that.

She'll never learn which is true for her, if she won't face upto the fact, she is failing and needs to do something herself to change that, rather than rely on you to fix things for her.
