Yeah, that used to work for me when I was younger, but now when I try that I just get really dry eyes and mouth and keep waking up like every half hour.

Capt._Trips wrote:I think they only come in .3 mg doses out here. Ive never seen any other option. ( probably online but idk) Ive taken probably 4 of them at a time so only 1.2 mgs. But ive always heard with melatonin less is more.

It seems most people seem to get help from around the .3 mg mark. So taking 3 times that it felt useless to me.

It really does vary wildly from person to person, and also over time. For a long time, I did great with 3 mg. Then at one point that stopped working, but I found 1.5 mg worked. Then that stopped working and I switched back to 3 mg, which was working again.

At the moment, I actually take 12 mg every night, not just for sleep (at high dosages it also combats gastro-oesophageal reflux disease; most of the melatonin in your body is actually part of your digestive system) but it works for me currently (and gives me the most amazing vivid dreams, or at least it used to before I started taking a medication that has REM-sleep suppression and lack of dreams as a side effect, which somehow doesn't cause any problems, not even with memory).

When I was taking several different supplements, I consulted Consumer Lab for product testing and reviews. It costs a little, but I highly recommend it!

Obviously you need a reliable supplier, but if you've got one, the worst problem you're likely to have is inconsistency, not illegitimacy.

I've had good luck with Piping Rock. Their melatonin has always seemed pretty consistent to me (same level of effect from every bottle; I get some acute tell-tale signs from it like perceived flashes of light while having my eyes closed in the dark when going to sleep). It's also not too expensive.

In the UK, melatonin is actually considered a prescription medication so over-the-counter sales are not allowed, but people are free to order it online from other countries and import it for personal use. It seems really messed up though, since it's soooo much better for you than stuff like ibuprofen and paracetamol/acetaminophen/Tylenol which is available OTC despite causing many cases of potentially fatal heart and liver disease each year.

r/roastme sucks. If it's an ugly person, then they're ugly. If it's an attractive woman, she's a slut and a whore. If it's an attractive man, it gets ignored.

Seems obvious, yes, but finding a reliable supplier is the trick. I think many people trust a favorite pharmacy or brand name without much (or any) reasoning behind that trust; e.g: I respect the pharmacist at Walgreens, so the product there must be ok; or the local natural food co-op carries it, so it must be ok. Reading the results of Consumer Labs independent testing of quality and consistency of dosage in supplements is shocking.

As always, any supplement that has an effect also has potential side-effects. Most concerning are interactions with other drugs. For melatonin, adverse interactions have been shown for some medications for epilepsy, high blood pressure, depression, and birth control. I only point this out to encourage anyone taking medications to consult with their doctor before using any supplement — no matter how natural or safe it may seem.

Aww, have you tried melatonin? (Note it needs to be taken at/around the same time every evening to work and different people respond to wildly different dosages and too much can actually keep you awake, so you may need e.g. 0.1 mg/night or 0.3 mg/night or 3 mg/night. A lot of people seem to write it off without realising this.)

I am considering trying that and seeing if it works. :)

I hope 420 doesn't stop working for me. I've become addicted to not being sleep deprived. Generally I just smoke some 420 but on the nights I feel I need some extra help I take a bite of a 1000 mg chocolate bar knowing the earliest I should wake up will be closer to 5am.

Unfortunately he has quite a support base and hence we have actually become what we have been accused of by the outside world. It's actually quite disgusting/disconcerting the number of Trump supporters that you run into daily.

Part of me wants him to commit war crimes. Perhaps then he'll be accountable to someone because obviously our government is incapable of doing what really needs to get done which is remove any power or control the man can exert anywhere. Trump should have been neutered at birth.

A whole 1000 milligrams? :runaway:

Did you know that chocolate contains various stimulants which can impair sleep?

Wait, you are talking about a rather special kind of chocolate bar, aren't you... :P

Steampunk outfits look kind of neat. I had to look up costumes for inspiration when I was creating game sprites today.

I've managed to get a beard hair underneath my left middle finernail, that's since gone even deeper. Reading about whether it's going to grow out on its own.

You mean, like, under the nail in the nail bed?

Like a splinter, it got pushed under my nail when I scratched my beard. At first I tried tweezing it out because part was exposed but I couldn't get a good grip on it/hurt like hell. Now it's 100% under my nail and looks like a black line, weirdly it doesn't hurt or look swollen when I press on it. I might be imagining but it looks smaller today.

That kinda happened to me recently but luckily I got my splinter out with a little help from a nail-cutter (which I used as a tweezer).
Can you cut your nail really short and maybe expose an end of it? It's probably a bad idea though
