We can't have English as the universal language. The French will never agree to it. :P

Well, they're only the French. If they want to be excluded, let them. Besides, they understand English quite a bit better than they let on. :D

I think they're mostly just content to watch us struggle with our failed secondary-school attempts to learn their stupidly difficult language. :P

Well, English's continued trend toward lingua franca status has had more to do with America's economic hegemony than Britain's imperialism.

Or maybe one could say the latter was the seed and the former was the water and sunlight.

Jesus, that was really bad Bulgarian on my part. I'm very rusty.

Току-що се оказа най-евтината аптека, която доставяше Великобритания по онова време! Купихме също наркотици от Вануату сред други малки страни с хора, желаещи да продават лекарства.

Ah, I'm not sure if "mexdu drugoto" (by the way) is kind of slangy. It's how I learned to say it, though.

Опа, учал нова дума! Благодаря.

Right, I'm going back to English now. I haven't read Bulgarian in years and this has really taxed me. :P

Omg! Right? I can’t describe to you how physically uncomfortable it has made me the few times I’ve had cause to watch any CCTV and seen myself in it. But then, that’s broadly true of any picture or video I’ve ever seen myself in.

Also, don’t you work in the gambling industry? What sort of gambling chain is apparently running premises somewhere with no CCTV? :gaping:

Where I live some of the buses have CCTV screens on-board which everyone can see and it makes me feel so uncomfortable and anxious knowing that everyone can see me on the screen and I can't help but stare each time it flicks back to me which just makes me look insane on it, probs got some dodgy looks from passengers downstairs one day when water bottle leaked onto my crotch and noticed whilst drying it looked like I was wanking meself off.

Also hate how I turn out in photos as I always look like I'm under the influence of some illegal substances and I have a terrible hair line so absolutely hate taking photos of myself, have to update my profile pics so often as I'm never happy with them for long.

I don't know why everyone started writing in a different language but I do know it was weirdly hot which... is a kink I did not know I had. Bravo everyone.

Good. Always go for plausible deniability when having a danger wank.

Well I don’t know about everyone else; but I assume that most people won’t bother translating anything, so I chime in with irrelevant nonsense so that the casual observer assumes I’m multi-lingual.

Counterpoint: if you're ever having a great time under the influence, and are stopped by the police, you could convincingly claim that you always look like that, and thus be on your merry way unaccosted.

This reminds me of the time I went to the doctor, and they took one look at me and said "oh dear, you're looking very pale and thin!"

"I always look like this. I feel fine. Could you just re-fill this prescription?

"Oh. Sorry".

I have autism and anxiety so I always look guilty of something which is a nightmare when out and about especially when it comes to security enforcement, once got followed the whole way round a shop by a security guard.

I used to have a similar problem, for different reasons. Every time I'd go through an airport, I'd have my bags searched. I though that I might have read too much anarchist literature and been put on a watch list, or something, before I realised that it was because I looked like a total weirdo, all piercings and long hair and ripped clothes.

I mean, I still kind of look like that, but now I'm an archaeologist, so I have a legitimate excuse to look like a tramp. :P
