Everyone, no matter how glamorous they were before deciding to throw their life away to stand in muddy holes, eventually morphs into what looks like some kind of hi-vis hobo/Bedouin warrior. And they start smoking. And swearing a lot. They will grow a beard.

Even the women.

It is the natural progression of the early career archaeologist.

So archaeologists are basically Tolkien dwarves?

OT: They just released a screentest for the next Batman film with vague glimpses of Robert Pattinson in the Batsuit and after Twilight I never thought I'd be able to say this but that man could stab me to death with his jawline and I'd thank him for it and change my will to leave him everything I have.

Hairier.

I was considering posting a picture of one particular co-worker to evidence this, but I shall withhold to protect his privacy. Sufficed to say, he is made almost entirely of beard.

From what you said earlier I was almost reading the "his" and "he" as "her" and "she".

I just figure most gays are introverts. As such we just don't like appearing in photos and video.

I just looked at the weather for Pittsburgh, PA. Eleven degrees for a low. Yeah, no way in hell I'm ever moving back to my hometown.

I wonder if I should get a Pokémon avatar, too? I know exactly which one I wanna be if it’s not just a Rene and Brendan thing. :3

I do too now; I just had some help getting there.

Specifically, I realised that when I looked into the mirror while on a psychedelic, I invariably looked ugly, while when I was on an amphetamine-type stimulant, I usually looked kind of cute or even hot, or at least better than usual. Apparently the way you perceive yourself in the mirror or in a photo is a really complicated biochemical thing and it can change completely based on how much of certain kinds of neurotransmission are going on in particular parts of your brain. Combined with the fact that body-dysmorphia sufferers who think they look horrendously ugly/fat/whatever typically really don't look that bad to me and according to others, it became clear to me that what you see when you look at yourself in the mirror or in a photo is extremely far removed from being an objective representation of reality or of what other people see when they look at you.

Another important thing to realise is that you will automatically look more attractive to other people if your behaviour exudes more confidence, which means that spending any time at all thinking about how flawed your appearance is in ways you can't change is not just a complete waste of time but in fact completely counterproductive. It's a sort of self-fulfilling prophecy.

Well it is ironically one of the best Pokémon in the early series, especially once the move ‘sleep talk’ was invented. ;)

Satre once told a story about a cafe he'd frequent. Every day, a man would come in and order a salad, and then proceed to eat it with his hands. A faux pas, obviously, but he'd do it with such confidence and dexterity that it would seem that this was the only sensible way to eat salad, and nobody would bat an eye.

The last few nights I've managed maybe like 2 hours sleep a night.
Last night I slept for 10.

This is totally normal...

Found out that my straight colleague was catfished and sent material that shows his junk and face - don't know if it's just a pic or video as well. What's on my mind: What are the odds of ever seeing said footage? Never pegged him as the type to be so reckless...

You had a sleep deficit due to some insomnia and then slept a bit longer to try and rectify it. Sounds normal!

I miss the days when my sleep schedule wasn't perma-fucked by anxious insomnia.

Oh to be 17 again....

And it's sort of a snow ball rolling down hill effect: I (re)discovered that over the last few years. Once you start having a better view of yourself, you start taking better care of yourself you end up with even more incentive to do so. So the turn-around is also self-fulfilling.
