So you’ve fallen for the whole charcoal detoxing fad, eh?

You know what? I think I have. The last week, I got some spicy Korean food from a street vendor. Dietarily, that was always going to cause a problem. At the same time, I was drinking a charcoal lemonade which was labelled as containing “activated coconut charcoal” - because coconut charcoal is even more hipster and faddy - to such an extent that the drink actually had a faint crunch. So all that charcoal dyed everything in my digestive system black.

Suffice it to say, my morning constitutional the following morning looked like a panicked squid had fled from the bowel of my toilet.

That story was definitely TMI, I know, but I had a loose context in which to tell it and I’m not sure such a context will come up again.

Eating charcoal sounds nasty and dangerous. I'm not up to date with the hipster fad or anything going on these days.

Apparently it can be fed to someone who ingested something poisonous, and the charcoal neutralizes the poison. I heard that it tastes terrible though.

For that purpose it comes in tablets that can just be swallowed with no taste. It can also be used to reduce gas/bloating.

Generally it's pretty safe. However, it leads to micronutrient deficiencies and feeling of hunger because it also absorbs many micronutrients before your body can.

What I hate most is the new trend of charcoal toothpaste. It only leads to people rinsing their mouths more to get rid of the black charcoal, which also then gets rid of the layer of fluoride that your toothpaste is supposed to leave on your teeth to help remineralisation and prevent caries!

It wouldn't be Christmas without someone buying you some Lynx Africa

Will be honest I do use Lynx shower gel but more often use Right Guard anti-persprent for deodorant although occasionally use the Lynx I get for Christmas to smell better.

I have to confess to using Old Spice underarm deodorant. The reason being I have found that it does not stain the pits of my dress shirts, including whites that do so easily. And it also functions well for it's intended purpose.

That's what I currently use but.its not strong enough for work.

What can I say, I guess my arm pits are not the equivalent of a nuclear waste dump site.

You work in a kitchen in Florida? Why not take up roofing in New Mexico?

New Mexico's roofs are already filled to capacity with kitchen workers from Florida. Try taking up cobbling in Montana instead, or tarring in Delaware.
