It's 11:30am and I'm seriously considering cracking into the booze I have in the fridge right now.

I think this might be the week of lockdown that finally turns me into the weeping alcohol I feel like I've always been destined to become.

After giving ‘how to sleep’ advice last night I was woken up by my neighbour at 2am, couldn’t get back to sleep till 4/5am and felt super tired and dumb all day.

I was very hungry and in the mood for a yummy burger so I set up everything to cook the yummiest one I can cook but then realized I was out of burgers :(

Had to settle for a lame ham sandwich that I abused by thinking aggresively "you are such a disappointment, ham, people only eat you cause you are cheap and easy" while eating it. :(

I had to use what ingredients I could find for my gumbo since everyone is still hoarding, it didn't come out as good as it was last time :(

Just saw a video of an abandon dog with the saddest looking expression and I couldn't help but cry. I fucking hate seeing shit like that on facebook. There's no getting rid of it.

My husband and I left Facebook because it just became too toxic and depressing.

Apparently word is my work is re-opening in mid-June. Here I thought non-essential retail was opening in early July at least but apparently my boss don't give no fucks, though admittedly I'm still waiting on official confirmation of this.

Oh my god, I've replied to your post in the wrong thread, from before you moved it. Now the error is spreading! We need to stop it, before the whole forum is engulfed in cross posting insanity! :runaway:

It's okay, I'll fix it:

I'm likely back to small scale site work by mid June. We're kind of "key-auxiliary", since building work is required to do arch survey as part of planning. You could loosen the regulations, but shh, that'd put me out of a job. And be environmentally disastrous, if course.

Okay, we're good.

And I have no idea how a bookmaker has decided it's a key business, to be honest. I don't even know why they supposedly picked mid-June when they could have just waited an extra half a month regardless. Unless the football and/or horse racing is starting back up in mid-June... I don't follow sports when I'm not at work.

I build homes for new developments and we only closed for a week. They cant "force" us to work but we have been. Even getting 16 hours overtime every week. And I'm right in the center of the northeast.

Only a week? Bloody hell, that seems like nowhere near enough time to implement safer working regimes. How's it on site? Does it feel safe, or is it more of a "get em back to work at all costs" sort of thing?

Scottish government called for site closures a couple of months ago. We're looking at middle of next month for a very gradual return to some site work that can be done safely, which is to say, not that much outside of survey and very small-scale excavation. I think there's been a lot of self-employed folk that continued to work, since they're not protected by the big retention schemes. England might be sending everybody back, I'm not entirely sure what's going on down there, to be honest.

I build pre fab in a warehouse. Theres no way for us to do proper social distancing. For safety we get our temperature taking in the morning. Require face mask at all times and that's about it really. We also staggered our break time. They provide hand sanitizer but it's up to us to use it or wash our hands. They do keep all doors open when were working. And coffee is all single serve packets. I f'ing hate those single packs of sugar.
We've been on "lockdown" for like a month and a half but my job only closed for one week.
Were actually set to move to the yellow zone on the 5th for my county and a bunch of surrounding counties But we haven't met the below 50 cases a day for the county.

Theres been lots of protest because we have a lot of very small businesses around here that wont make it another 2 weeks.

So here its get em back to work by any means. But my job just said fuck it.

Has the US gov got any federal aid in place? We've a job retention scheme here, where the government essentially foots the bill for wages, so that's probably saved a lot of people. Lots of people left unemployed, still. I'm not sure that hospitality will recover well, either, so might be more job losses even after there's a partial loosening.

Yeah too much tbh. We have our regular unemployment which is like 75% of normal pay. And they tacked an extra $600 a week on to that. But it hasn't rolled out very good. They opened it to basically anyone whether you ever worked or not. So just about every non worker applied at once.
My brother has never paid taxes and has over $6800 in unemployment. He just cant access it atm. But when he can it'll even be higher.
That's actually a big issue right now. Everyone got $1200 for nothing really. And the house passed an even bigger bill. But our Senate wants to do away with the extra $600 a week. I agree with that. Were giving people who made nothing a week to a minimum of $800 a week. Plus $1200. Were set to get another $1200 but they wont accept the bill with the unemployment.
Were encouraging people to not work. Which is good nd bad
But the small businesses I'm talking about are very small and pay very high rent.
It's called a small town county in Pennsylvania. Basically a bunch of small towns based around the Delaware river. They rely on mainstreet. It's not even so much the shops, the towns rely on the small shops and tourist. It's what keeps there economy going

I'd say they made the unemployment to good.

Christ, got a text from a friend in Minneapolis today. Everything okay? Hadn't been keeping up with the news from the US. Grim as fuck.

And what's this I hear about Trump seemingly threaten to have the NG start shooting people ("thugs" was the word he used, I believe)? And only "good people" involved when a bunch of fully tooled up guys forced their way into a Michigan government building. I dunno, man, call me a conspiracy theorist, but I kind of get the feeling that Trump might be a bit racist, ya know?

OT: Dominic Cummings has yet to resign.

The amount of time and effort the government has spent trying to downplay this is unreal. Favorite parts include:

The fact that Michael Gove went on live radio to say that he too, would consider driving a vehicle to test his vision when it was
impaired: something which would clearly be unsafe driving, and even skirting the edge of illegality.

The fact that Cumming's wife, Mary Wakefield, who is a commissioning editor of the Spectator magazine, wrote an article and published that article in the magazine she edits, despite that it contained several lies, as shown by Cumming's own story surrounding the events in question. As of now, still commissioning editor.

The fact that Cumming's accused the media of spin. Cummings. Accused the media of spin. Cummings.

Unreal. There's just too much material to work with here. I... I can't do it. I'm done. I want out of the simulation. Please let me out now.
