Like sure I'm not expecting exact 1:1 recreation and the major shit is mostly right and relatively where it should be in the scaled-down version of the city. The White House doesn't have a fence round it so you can drive right up the front lawn to the steps and straight into the Rose Garden but whatever.

But.... how do you get the fucking Lincoln Memorial wrong!?

Like it's where it should be. From the outside the building looks absolutely fine. But... there's no Lincoln. Instead of the famous image of Lincoln in the big chair there's just a generic statue of a random woman. I mean did they not think that anyone would ever bother to actually look at the thing? Cause it's kind of a famous landmark that people will want to look at!

Just... gah!

And yes I realise I'm probably the only fucker in the world to care about this.

I mean... I've never been there irl. Maybe it is just a statue of a generic looking woman? Maybe Lincoln was a generic looking woman? I dunno, might not have payed a lot of attention in the US history classes.

I think I remember Lincoln having a beard, but let's not jump to conclusions. Americans, help me out here.

I remember reading about that. Something about him having a "scary face", and that he'd look a lot friendlier if he had a beard.

The temperature outside right now - 14 degrees. On top of that for unknown reasons I'm sweating like on a tournament of sweating. And I don't have suitable clothes for such a temperature. I have summer clothes and clothes for temperatures like minus 15 and below. Frankly I'd prefer if it were minus 15 right now, at least I would know what to wear.

Are you sure you weren't coming across as painfully insecure and paranoid at the time? Because that'd be a real boner-killer.

Your sex life seems the least of your problems, there would appear to be some trust issues that you two need to work through. Maybe give him a pass on this occassion, have an adult discussion and accept that he really was just tired or not in the mood?

Or, you know, kill and boil his pets. Whichever feels more "you".

Hey, you know what sucks? When you have technical difficulties on a late shift at work and your brain decides to respond to that by totally freaking the hell out.

Like "oh yeah that slight technical problem is kind of a pisser. You know what'd totally help with that? Reacting to it like a screaming toddler, you absolute dumb fuck!"

I'm so fucking tired.

That’s not what sucks. You’re minimising. What sucks is much simpler and more sweeping. What sucks is that you react to everything like a panicked child. You and your brain aren’t separate entities. It’s you doing this. Stop distancing. It’s you perpetuating it by refusing to address it. You minimise, you distance and you repeat. Over and over.

What put a frown on my face today is that apparently I’m ready to concede that Pooler and Brenden and Derek were right all along. Just being positive and understanding isn’t necessarily being supportive.

That I can leave the forum for months and come back to the same old “<Insert occurrence> happened today and I freaked out and I’m such a piece of shit” daily attention grab is somewhat concerning.

It’s time to nut up or shut up, Steve. Either start making some small step towards addressing your issues, or stop waving it in our faces. At this point, it’s as tedious and repetitive as reading threads in the wasteland.

As someone who enjoys creative writing, try and view this situation as a narrative. So far, this book is 300 pages of absolute flatline. Something had better happen soon, or I’m going to send a parcel of shit to your publisher.

I despise super jewel CD cases.

This shit:

Image

They're better at protecting the CD. I get it. But... ugly. So, so ugly. Those little reinforced corners at the hinges? They completely ruin the look of the case's spine. Look terrible next to standard cases. And what's worse, they only produced them for a couple of years, so now I only have, like, four CD's in super jewel cases: breaking up the pleasing consistency of my collection and looking like shit.

Standard jewel cases are terrible too, to be honest. Central boss generally broken at purchase around 30% of the time. And the little tabs that secure the booklet? Will absolutely rip it if you ever have the audacity to attempt removal.

Reinforced paper cases are the best, both aesthetically and ecologically. More paper cases, please.

OT: I bought a MIKA album from a charity shop and it was in a super jewel case. Full of irrational hate.

I can only assume the residents of Glasgow, specifically those who prefer throwing stars as a means of self-defence but also want to avoid running afoul of offensive weapons legislation.

Trying to explain very specific gambling rules that mean he isn't getting paid as much as he thinks he is to a customer who not only barely speaks a word of English but who has been in the shop for 6 and a half hours by that point and the bet that he got stiffed on the payout for was his first winner in 5 of those hours.
