I got stuck in the snow while delivering a pizza. Then someone impatient tried to go around me and got stuck in the ditch. My socks are now wet.

Well you could tell the impatient driver “I was going to tell you to stop being so impatient, but the ditch is doing that for me.”

Is putting off exercise because you are trapped in analysis paralysis going to end well? You didn’t need this much planning to move your furniture. Perhaps your motivation for exercising isn’t strong enough to overcome your tendency to over-think.

Severelius wrote:because otherwise all I'd do is spend like an hour just pressing shuffle on my Spotify playlist.

So what? You will still have gone on a walk, which was supposed to be the point. You seem too focused on what could go wrong instead of on what could go right. Admittedly, the benefits of regular exercise can take a long time to become apparent. It makes the process very discouraging. You have to find a way to push through that wall.

Your current way of approaching changes to your behavior doesn’t work. Change it.

1. Try to visualize how you will feel if you don’t do it instead of thinking about how good you might feel if you do. If you are one of those people who constantly beats themselves up because of all the things you don’t do, then that is going to be worse than having your mind race for an hour because you don’t have a good podcast to occupy your thoughts.

2. Break it down into small steps. Find a comfortable walking shoes. Find comfortable clothes. Create a walking goal, like 30 minutes to start. And so on. Smaller steps are easier to focus on and complete.

3. View each walk as an experiment, and view the unpleasant walks as successes. Did you get blisters on your feet? Success. Now you know you need better shoes. Did you pick a boring podcast and your mind raced? Success. Now you know you need to find something different, maybe an audiobook.

4. Consider meditating, if you don’t already. It’s exercise for your brain. The benefits of meditation aren’t about what happens when you are doing it. It improves the way your mind functions in your everyday life. It may help you refocus your thoughts when you find that they are getting too negative or obsessing over something.

5. Just accept that you are an over-thinker. Truthfully, concentrating on something else isn’t the best way to exercise. If you really want to get into better shape, you are going to have to push yourself gradually over time, and that requires paying attention to what you are doing. It is not the time to be learning or to be entertained.

Went to bed last night feeling completely normal... woke up this morning feeling like death warmed over, as my mum would say.

I've had a frown on my face too lol. Sounds kind of rough
"Ask nothing more of me, sweet;
All I can give you I give.
Heart of my heart, were it more,
More would be laid at your feet—
Love that should help you to live,
Song that should spur you to soar.

All things were nothing to give,
Once to have sense of you more,
Touch you and taste of you, sweet,
Think you and breathe you and live,
Swept of your wings as they soar,
Trodden by chance of your feet.

I that have love and no more
Give but love of you, sweet.
He that hath more, let him give;
He that hath wings, let him soar;
Mine is the heart at your feet
Here, that must love you to live."

I woke up feeling depressed, lonely, and anxious for the fourth day in a row. Why does my brain do this to me!!!! I feed and water it, and shower it with love. And how does it reward me? By making me feel like I’m buried under an avalanche of negative feelings and memories (that really wish I never had to relive). So much for a goof start to the day!

My back has been hurting a lot recently.

I found a Blockbuster Video card while cleaning out some files.

I found out the diagonal movement plug-in conflicts with the ‘enemy rushes at you when they see you’ plug-in. After discovering no solutions for that I decided to drop the enemy rush plug-in. Eight directional movement is more important to me than slightly smarter enemy sprites. :pfft:

It’s not generally a good idea to use plug-ins from more than one author anyway simply due to conflicts like these...

Are you getting enough vitamin D?

I'd feel this way regardless of my vitamin D level. It's not a vitamin problem. But thanks for caring enough to ask :)

He might have been referring to seasonal affective disorder.

That would make sense! But I don’t have SAD. Still, it was nice of him to offer the suggestion 😊

Struck oil this week at work. Literally, I mean. Some rogue had tipped gallons of the stuff into an old drain which, when broken to release the water, flooded my site with engine oil. Minor environmental disaster. Also, any soil samples will be well and truly fucked. Ho hum.

But I did get a lot of bird watching done, so that was nice. Several varieties of wagtail, some robins, black-headed gulls, a stonechat, a heron and a buzzard. Don't think any of them took a dip in the oil pool, so that's good.

I like birds now. That's my thing. You really have to find ways to entertain yourself when soil stripping. :P

Got almost attacked by a homeless guy. :facepalm2: I don’t blame him since he’s clearly missing a few marbles but I felt annoyed and sad more than anything that nothing is being done to alleviate the situation in LA.
Blow: "Nowadays even Liam can release an album of his screechy vocals and it'll probably go #1..."
Ramzus: I can admit that I'm horny just about 24/7
homomorphism: I used to not think your name was deshay and that Erick was just being racist
Hunter: sometimes I think I was literally born to be a pornstar

Are your homeless homegrown or imported?

Apologies for how disgusting this is, at least if you're anything like me, but frankly right now it's the almost unnatural amount of dead skin on my feet. It's fucking horrific and I have no idea why this has suddenly started happening.

You are kidding yourself if you think nothing is being done in LA. The problem is greater than the response, but many good people are working their asses off to try to improve the situation.
