Seen lots of news stories about hours and hours of delays at airports because of covid and staff shortages and all that jazz.

Arrived extra extra early to make sure such hours and hours of delays didn’t fuck me up.

Never gone from entering the airport to clearing security to waiting in the departure lounge so quickly in my life. Literally took about 6 minutes.

Now I’m sat in a largely closed departure lounge for hours.

I'm very worried about something that happened tonight.

So I'm on the way home from work. I'm cutting through a long alley when I see a bike lying on the floor. Closer I get it becomes very apparent that there's a dude lying under it, obviously just crashed and out of it. So I stop and try to talk to him. He's clearly breathing but he's just staring up at nothing with totally glassy eyes so at first I'm thinking "oh shit, he's really injured or concussed or something."

Turns out he's just very drunk as he does eventually notice me next to him and starts to respond. After getting him up, cleaning him off from the dirt and cuts all over his hands, stopping him from picking a fight with two passing teenagers, giving him a drink of water and making sure he's at least conscious and aware, if totally steamed, he starts trying to get back on his bike.

I tell him repeatedly he shouldn't be riding it because he's absolutely shitfaced but you know how it is trying to talk a drunk out of doing something he thinks is a brilliant idea. I don't want to risk the guy getting angry and trying to fight me like he did with the random teenagers so after a while I give in and he sets off riding. Despite the fact he couldn't walk straight when he got up, he's riding perfectly okay. No dangerous swerves or anything.

This alley we're in is long and I'm walking behind him the whole way. He gets to the end just fine, and at the end of it he turns off to the right, while my fastest way home is to the left. But there's some kind of film/TV production going on down that way in some old industrial buildings I cut through to get home, and for night shooting they've blocked off the whole damn road leading past it. So I have to turn around and loop back around, down the path the drunk guy went down.

I'm walking down it to the side of the path I see, of course, his fucking bike. Lying on the path. I look around the area to see if he's lying konked out somewhere nearby but can't see the guy at all. I even bust through my general social anxiety issues to ask some people nearby if they've seen the guy, but they haven't seen anyone.

So there's not much I can really do. I can't see him, nobody else has seen him, and I'm not about to spend my night wandering the streets looking for a drunk stranger.

But now I'm worried about the guy, even though there was kind of nothing else I can do. I briefly considered calling the police or something but I'm not sure "I helped a drunk guy up but now he's crashed his bike again but I don't know where he is now" would get any kind of actual response. Random roving drunks are just kind of a feature of this area a lot of the time.

There is only so much you can do to help someone with self-destructive behavior. In the U.S., some areas anyway, driving or riding anything while drunk is illegal. You can call the cops. Spending the night in jail is better than getting injured or worse.

Got the upcoming week off and I'm going to try and be at least kind of productive during it, but bagging up all the stuff from my room that I intend to cart down to town to either sell or donate to a charity shop has really made me question what the fuck is wrong with me and why I own so much of this stuff in the first place.

So the kids have a mental health counselor for the three older kid. she and I had a discussion about the school. Apparently the teachers there are mean… not allowed to talk in lunch time and don’t give enough food for lunch for the kids. My roommates daughter when the counselor visited her at the school said she only ate 2 hard boiled eggs. I told their parents about it and we may be packing a lunch for the three of them. It’s ridiculous because the school in a low income area sometimes other kids don’t get to eat at home… they only get to eat at school. I mean roommates kids aren’t starving but not eating through out the day at school how are they supposed to concentrate and learn and take in what they’re suppose to be learning? It’s bullshit.

I had the worst luck on a train journey yesterday.

My car died an ignoble death not long ago, so public transport has been a unavoidable if I want to go anywhere at all.

I live in Kent, my friends live in London. So I had to get a train to meet them this weekend. It did not go well. Of the three trains I needed to get, the first service was cancelled due to obstructions on the line... one very late bus replacement service later, I arrived at the station for my first connection, only to have that service cancelled... due to late running services ahead

I eventually had to get another two seperate trains to arrive for what was meant to be my second connection that would take me on to where I wanted to go. I was very late. I hate public transport.

1. Waiting in all day for an Amazon delivery, decided I could risk popping over the shop to restock some stuff... and the thing arrives exactly while I'm out, the delivery goes down as failed, and now I've got to wait until tomorrow.

2. Playing Marvel's Spider-Man on PS4 again. Turn it off to do the aforementioned shopping trip, and when I get back and turn my PS4 on apparently the console spontaneously just deleted the game application so I've got to re-download the thing. Luckily my saved data is still there, but that's still a dick move and I don't know why it happened.

I have an interesting migraine this evening where my head hurts little but I feel pressure in my skull, I’m sensitive to light, and I feel kind of sick. I’m also cold. :(

Living in a flat with restricted access and working irregular hours makes it really annoying to try and order very obscure specific things where you won't know exactly when they're going to be getting delivered. Pain in the arse.

Okay, has anyone else had issues trying to snag a PS5 as well? I’m getting incredibly annoyed at this point.

It’s not gonna change any time soon. I can’t quite wrap my head around how the global semiconductor manufacturing industry managed to get itself as fucked up as it has, but apparently it’s still very fucked up and not likely to be un-fucked until well into next year.

I work in the motor industry and if anything it’s hitting this industry harder than the computer/entertainment industry. It’s ridiculous.
