One of my coworkers is probably going to end up losing their job, because they're proving unreliable and bad at the job. :P

The tongue emoticon is a bit smilier than most. I would prefer him not to lose his job, because that sucks and he’s not a bad guy outside of his work issues.

Anyway the thing I am frowning about now is that my husband is sick with a lung infection, ironically contracted at the doctor’s office last week. :facepalm2:

My computer's speakers made a loud sputtering noise before the computer itself suddenly shut off and I got a whiff of burning plastic. This does not bode well for the rest of my weekend.

Right? I knew a fan had been sputtering but there hadn't been any performance issues. I let it cool down and then tested if it would turn on, and it would not, so I'm hoping it's the power supply but it could just as easily be the motherboard. The tiny LED indicator on the case's power button was glowing, but that just means the wiring's intact, right? I really hope it's not the motherboard.

I looked up how to test a power supply and it involved sticking a paperclip in the 24 pin connector, but I literally don't own a paperclip so that's out.

My ex got a hold of me not too long ago. A mutual friend of mine and my ex's had passed away from cancer about a week ago. His funeral is on Thursday... hopefully I can go. Another surprise to another shitty year... He was a good guy... it's not fair.

A voltmeter is an handy thing to own and they are really inexpensive. I would not be without one. But hey, if the possibility of taking a good amount of current into your body via a paperclip to save $9.49 (Amazon Prime and free one day shipping), go for it.

In other words, I recommend a cheap voltmeter

Truer words, Derek

And speaking of my loins:
In early 2017, I started using "If you predate Chernobyl I'm not interested" as a catty tagline on Grindr. Since HBO has recently moved on from whatever Game of Thrones was to a new cash cow about a certain late Soviet nuclear incident, I keep getting guys with posted ages inevitably near my age ceiling—and pictures that suggest they're quite far over it—messaging me about how good the show is.

My cattiness is not trendy.
My interest in you and your show is nil.
I am only here because grad school has many fewer cute gays than advertised.
That is all.

Maybe that should be your tagline then. It would scare me off.

I think maybe you're sending mixed messages. Don't care what you think but also look how clever I am? Too good for Grindr but still please come fuck me?

It is. Shorting out GND and PS_ON pins on an ATX power supply will turn the power supply on. That way you can see if at least the power supply is working properly. If you own a multimeter you then proceed to test the common voltage lines.

Although I usually use a piece of wire instead of a paperclip. But that works.

In other news... I spent 40 minutes getting from the second story of a parking garage to the exit. There were no accidents or anything, just massive amounts of traffic.

I got sick. :pfft: I have a runny nose, a terrible cough that’s made my throat incredibly sore and my whole body aches. :(

Lucky for you that you get to sit home today and read on GFO all the posts by the new user who seems hell bound to post in every thread ever started.
