The World Health Organisation advises AGAINST banning travel during a pandemic, because it creates more chaos (just imagine all the people huddled at airports now around service desks trying to get home as flights are cancelled) and only helps during the very first stages of a pandemic (which we are well past).

Some flights are now seemingly cancelled for some time in advance, brother was due to go to Gran Canaria in mid May and Jet2 have seemingly cancelled the flights for it.

Next thing in the UK is to ban all large public gatherings such as football fixtures and music events (the former has already been suspended), realistically those measures should have been put in place or at least announced on Thursday when bumbling Borris made his speech but no, just wash your hands and sing happy birthday.

Even travelling to Wales in a fortnight is a concern although I have every intention to make this trip although family are not so keen for me to make this trip but I know some that are currently pottering around the likes of Germany and France atm so Wales shouldn't be an issue (I hope). Sadly the proposed public gatherings ban is likely to mean some of the gigs I had been down to attend will likely end up being postponed.

An official ban on travel may create chaos and contribute to panic behavior. However, voluntarily limiting non-essential travel is important to slow the spread of the virus. It doesn't matter if you are in a low-risk group because of your age and general good health. The more people interact in groups and between different groups the faster the virus spreads. Limiting travel and social interaction will slow the spread. Just as many people may eventually catch the virus, but over a longer period of time. That way we might avoid more disasters like what is happening in Italy now. There simply are not enough doctors, nurses, and hospital beds for the small percentage of people who need them.

Somber moment aside, have you considered temporarily managing all interpersonal contact though a proxy? Like a marigold stuffed with sausage meat, duct taped to a broom handle?

Thank you.

Whilst both me and the deceased would doubtlessly have found it hilarious if the funeral was attended exclusively by badly made representations, I'm not sure the minister will appreciate it. :P

I’m not saying don’t attend and send a dummy, that’s madness. But if everyone had a Marmaduke Industries Two-in-One Anti-Viral Handshake Proxy and Dog Lure then your concerns around physical contact would be all-but-completely alleviated.

The Coronavirus panic has exposed that a girl I used to get on really well with when we worked together is a fucking demented conspiracy-peddling anti-vaxx lunatic.

The panic buying is starting to grate on my nerves.

I thought Brits were meant to be unflappable, calm in a emergency peoples. Instead, everyone is grabbing everything they can and running for the hills.

Toilet paper? Spaghetti? What are these people planning?

Fortunately since I made my post earlier, Premier Inn have announced that non flex bookings can be amended to a date within the next 120 days or something subject to availability etc so I am now considering pushing it back to maybe May or June now when hopefully the situation will have reduced in severity.

Other things making the trip a potential non starter in a fortnight is my health without the virus, Sinusitis still causing headaches and knackering me out and in the last day or two I have been experiencing pain around the area of my left hip, kidney again which is not the most pleasant feeling especially when paired with the headaches, no idea what's causing that to happen but seems a bit swelled around that area too, so now worrying about this again, think I need putting down.

Lol I pissed myself because I suddenly had to go but I couldn’t make it to the bathroom in time. It came out of nowhere and I couldn’t make it. The people I live with right now who is an STNA said I could have a bad uti and such which would make sense of the high white blood cell count.

I have a sinking feeling that I’m going to lose 25-50% of my parents to this pandemic.

Three of my parents work in hospitals, one of them with patients, one in a lab, and one in administration. The other drives around delivering auto parts to garages, so interacts with maybe two dozen people a day all around a large geographic area. They’re all right-wingers who are listening to Trump and not really taking significant precautions. They’re all around 60. Two are diabetic, one is prediabetic, and one has heart disease. One often gets chest infections, like once a year. One is a former smoker.

Fuck. Writing that out… I might lose them all.

My mother-in-law is even worse. She’s an active smoker older than 60 who has made a Facebook event “Coronafeest” (Corona-party) for two weeks from now and invited 33 people. :shake: The concept of social distancing is so foreign to her you might as well be speaking another language when you try to explain it.

Well you have every right to be worried because it’s hitting the boomers really hard. I’ve been staying home and avoiding on going to the hospital where my friends papa is at for breathing issues. Here they shut down schools for 3 weeks so I’m stuck with 3 kids and along with two others my age and my friends cousin who’s like 45. I’m trying to stay away from the 45 years old whose issues would kill him if having that virus.

Welcome to our new reality. All we can do is encourage everyone we know to take the situation seriously. I don't think any of us will get through this without losing someone we know.

Sport cancelled.
Horse racing cancelled, including biggest horse-racing event of the year.
Pubs ordered to be closed.

Yet still bookmakers remain open.

What the fuck is the point?

Googles chrome cast has ruined pornography forever! :argh: It was bad enough being scared that you've not got earphones plugged in correctly now I am fucking terrified of accidentally casting gay porn to the living room TV or some other device. Who the hell asked for this? To make matters worse the cast button is usually right below the play button.

I am just relieved that I have only ever managed to do that whilst watching YouTube videos although live in constant fear I may accidentally send a certain form of pic to the wrong person :runaway:

Netflix, PS4 and wanking! Doctors should just start prescribing it!

Wish I could be off, but it won't happen unless I get sick or until they shut literally everything down.

I'm working from home as of next week. I've never worked from home. Even when I was studying, I'd always go to the library or, latterly, my desk at the uni. This shall require more disciple than I am ordinarily known for.

Also, digitising from sketch without having the artefact in front of you can be annoying, particularly if you're a lazy illustrator like me, who bangs out sketches rapidly before inevitably finding out I've missed several crucial details.

Still, one must soldier on. I'm sure society can survive on 90% accurate technical drawings of chipped rock for at least a little while. :P
