Any Old Timers Still Around

Unread postby cyncist » 14 April 2019, 23:58

I don't even remember my old user names beyond Quirky Harlequin. Was on the old GTF.net, then came over here for a while after the split.

The only names I can remember from back then were Boris Yeltsin, Ichol, Island, and Colin/Emeritus.

Cory/Erich!!! I was just thinking about you recently :awesome:

How's life?

  • You don't remember a certain anonymous someone? :runaway:
  • You must also remember Marmaduke and poolerboy0077 who are still with us!
  • wizid, Colin, Justin and SCARFACE occasionally stop by.
  • Not sure if you'd remember acpro?
  • I wish Boris/Jandre and Ichol would visit.
  • lostpainting is more lost than ever.
  • Island is a traitor. Doubt we'll see him again.

I vaguely remember Marmaduke and poolerboy. It's been so long now and life has led me all over, so a lot of the names escape me anymore. Maybe I'm just getting older and forgetting things.

Acpro sounds familiar. I also remember a hot guy who was in the military, no idea the name.

What happened with Island? Did Ichol and Boris just quietly fade away or did they say their goodbyes?

I'll have to try to get back in touch with Colin. We actually saw Juno together in theaters when I was living in Seattle.

How have you been Rene?

I think I've already asked this but I can't remember, what's going on with lostpainting?

I do miss Seattle sometimes, even though it's only a few hours away. I need to get on the train sometime for a weekend up there. Of course, I will head right up to Capitol Hill.

I wonder if our favorite feline-themed lesbian bar is still around? (Purr, where the tongue meets the fur.) Unfortunately, Basic Plumbing, the sex-club across the street closed down. It had the best glory-hole design, too. You could tell someone put a lot of thought into it — a head for head, I always said. :monocle:

I bet Seattle has changed a ton. It was incredible expensive a decade ago, I'd imagine it's only become worse since then.

My memory is a bit hazy after 11 years, but if I recall correctly, he joined us briefly during la révolution but he actually had ambitions on .net, where he collaborated with the powers that were and gained some level of power for himself. I believe what infuriated me was that he spared no time to shamelessly plagiarize the rules I had painstakingly written for .org, passing them off as his own and putting them up as the new and improved rules for .net. :P
It was a shame; I remember liking him quite a bit before that.

Anyway, if you feel like taking a trip down memory lane, you may be interested to review the Events of December 2007 Historical Archive.

I also later wrote a summary that may be of interest.

They faded quietly into obscurity (or was it insecurity? :monocle:). I've spoken with Boris a few times since then, though, and he seems to be doing well. :)

I hope Ichol is okay. I really wonder what he's like now.

I've been way too busy, especially since my dad got very ill and passed away last year and I had to take over a lot of his work for my mom's company, but I've been very well otherwise!

A little over a year after the exodus, I met a guy from Michigan on GTF and it rapidly became clear that we were meant to be together. We flew over to see each other a few times, drove to Connecticut to get a civil union (which was later retroactively converted into a marriage) and settled down in England. We've since moved to Scotland, and we're loving it here.

It's been 10 years this month (of which we've been married for 9). :keke:

I haven't looked into the situation recently, but here are a few reports from PolandBoy's reintroduction thread when the latter briefly returned late last year:

He turned to drugs and then, recently, to Lutheranism. Were you aware of his fall from Republican grace?
poolerboy0077 wrote:Loppy Alex became super liberal and a drug fiend. Now apparently he’s Lutheran or something. That guy is all over the place. I kinda want to talk to him again. Even better would be for Ichol Ben to reunite with Alex and see what happens.

Oh wow, thanks for this. I needed some of that old internet drama today. Great way to spend the evening! What a crazy time. I'm pretty sure I'd be part of that revolution if I ever joined GTFN  registration was already turned off when I found the site, though (which led me to GTFO).

Hi, I don't know if we knew each other or not. I joined like super early 2004 but I didn't post much until like 2008 when I graduated college and had much more time and I was out. I was a little intimidated to post because of Insey--but I spoke to him a couple times.

Do you remember any super old names like Stapler (I think that's the military guy you remember but maybe not). I could be mixing him up with another username but I def remember the cute military guy. blonde with short hair and I think a tattoo of a woman?

Do you remember MeWithoutYou? He was cute. I never talked to him much but I remembered him because he did a lot of drugs (well acted like he did--now I don't know) and posted a lot of personal info. I always remembered his real name and once in awhile I'll look him up on Facebook. He's now married to a woman. Someone he used to take a lot of pics with and post pictures with when he was "out" so I'm not sure if its a real marriage or something they did to satisfy their parents.

EDIT I might have joined in 2003. I remember being in my parent's "computer room" and on the website and if I was in a "computer room" it means I was still in high school because I had my own computer in college.

I remember MeWithoutYou :3

Could the military guy have been xFDMx (Kyle)?

I vaguely remember he was a moderator who was in the military and didn't do a whole lot of moderating, which led me to producing this chart on the 13th of December 2007:

(I imagine this contributed to Justin and Kevin's displeasure with me; I was banned about a week later.)

Ooooooh, that’s who he is. I was wondering who this random was PMing me. I had called ICE as an act of reverse racism. My bad.

What’s up, boo?! :awesome:

AB, any update on him? (I miss calling you AB. :P )

Btw, was he JustSomeGuy2 in GTF? The avatar looks familiar but I don’t even remember when he arrived at GTF.

Hahhaa damn René you're good. That was his username and he is the military guy I was talking about. Stapler I think is someone that the military guy talked about or maybe was friendly with on the forum? But he ended up leaving--like legit leaving not fading away. So then stapler is someone I never had contact with but he was probably one of the first 100 members. People mentioned him from time to time.

I think you should message MeWithoutYou on Facebook and invite him. I'm dying to find out his story. People don't go from gay to straight normally, unless something drastic happens. At least in my experience. I've seen straight to gay many of times, but not the opposite.
