Hello All

Unread postby Pigeon Valley » 1 July 2019, 23:15

Hi there all!

I'm Ben. I'm very new to anything to do with sexual attraction. I have identified as asexual for much of my adult life to this point (admittedly only four or five years), but a few days ago, I found that I'm very much sexually attracted to other guys. Unsure if I was just repressing an already present desire or if I really never had felt attraction to that point, but yeah, it's pretty conclusive right now, so yeah.

I'm an Irish-born Celt with a majority Welsh ancestry, with a little bit of Viking in there on my mother's side (highly likely they came over with the Great Heathen Army, so yeah). I currently live in Central Queensland, Australia, and have lived here for longer than I have lived anywhere else in the world. I still don't have the accent, instead retaining somewhat of a mixture of Dublin Irish, Berkshire English and just a little bit of Australian slang to round it all out. As a person with a keen interest in linguistics, I find accents absolutely fascinating, especially how they develop.

I also have a keen interest in flags and geography. I've often been compared to Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory, namely for the idea that I could present a show on flags and be fully happy doing that regularly. I have an extensive collection of flags, and am what you could call a "standard nerd".

I've put my questionnaire below in spoiler tags, so anything else of interest is there. If you want to ask any other questions, I'm open to being asked. In any case, hope to meet more of you as time goes on.

Haha, yes, many do.

The Celtic history is very fascinating to me.

The Celts are indeed a very fascinating group, both historically and to the present. The fact that they formerly controlled such a large area (from the British isles to Iberia, over to Central Anatolia and up to Romania) and yet are now on the fringes of Europe, many of their languages extinct, is very interesting to me.

What brought you to Australia?

My family moved here in 2010 (well, Dec. 31 2009 at around 8pm) largely because we didn't really have any living relatives either in Britain or in Ireland, whereas we have a large extended family here. That's certainly part of it, but also the weather, and the fact that we could since my mother inherited Australian citizenship from her Welsh-Australian mother's side.

Indeed I am! I shall likely add to that as soon as I get a moment free.

Hope to see you around more Ben.

Thanks! As I say, great to be here.
