Hello from the South Coast of the UK

Unread postby oldgoat » 13 September 2020, 13:14

I think that this is where I should write a bit about me.
Well, I'm 78 years old (why I put that first I don't know) I have had two partners one for 20 years and one for 18. Just when I thought that was enough good luck for one lifetime I met, via a dating site, a lovely man who lives in Spain and we've been a couple now for 9 months.
The idea was that we would spend three weeks in the UK, six weeks apart then three weeks in Spain.
Then came Covid 19.
My friend was in the UK when it struck and couldn't get back to Spain for nearly four months. This was a bit worrying for him but great for me. However just as we had got really used to having each other around, he was allowed to go home and since then I can't really travel to Spain which is why I've ended up sitting in front of my laptop with nothing much else to do.
That's not quite true. In 2018 I got involved in local politics and ended up being elected as a local councillor in 2018.
I think that that's enough for now. I'm looking forward to seeing some interesting subjects being discussed on here and of course some good old fashioned scurrilous gossip.

Welcome to the forum!

Which political party are you a member of? Or are you one of those elusive independents that occasionally win council seats. :P

My husband and I have had a similar experience with the pandemic actually allowing us to spend more time with our boyfriend than could have been the case otherwise.

Thanks for asking, and yes I am one of those independents that every now and then win council seats. Actually in our authority the independents became the largest group.
National politics was in such a mess in May 2019 that people voted for people who said that they would do the best thing for the local area and forget Westminster.
I don't think that any party should try and lay claim to the gay vote. Being gay shouldn't define the rest of your thinking.
