Welcome, Luke—

Small town life can be a little challenging until you find your "in". For some people it's work, but that's not always enough. I live in a small town, as well, where winters can get very quiet. It has been important for me to always have a variety of social connections. I have friends who used to host a weekly potluck at their house (for years), with 8-20 people. They don't have a big house, so it was cozy with a crowd. Now they have cut back to once a month, but it's still a good connection. Some of the same people have been going for years, and there are often new faces, too.

Banff and Jasper are on my "must see" list! Someday I will get there. It must be a beautiful area.

I hope you find some good connections here on the forum, and in your new home.

In that case, you should try being a grandparent!
It's like getting to be a superhero 24 hours/7 days a week!
It's really amazing, much better than being a Dad, although that's nothing to sneeze at.
