Once upon a time long ago, when the dinosaurs roamed the boards...

Unread postby Sherri » 31 July 2020, 00:21

It's been a while, GFO :). I don't recognize most of the names here any more, so I figure a re-introduction may be in order.

First name: Sherri, but I spell it Cheri half the time now

Nickname(s)?: Sherrigosa, Shermander, SherBear, I'm sure you guys gave me more :D

Age: 31

Orientation: Pan on paper, straight in practice

Where you live: Albuquerque NM

Where you're from: rural south Georgia shithole

What you do (job, schooling, etc.): RN for 5 years now, Accountant beforehand

Dream Job: No job.

Religion (or lack thereof): Some form of respecting nature and believing we are the universe experiencing itself

Political philosophy: I very badly want to emigrate from the USA. It is so embarrassing to be here right now. Why are all the good countries so cold? :(

Interests and hobbies: Who has time for this? Interests I guess, reading, very occasional TV watching, lots of time with dogs, catchy music, talking to people

Drinking, drugs or sobriety?: Drinking, drugs, and debauchery ;)

Special talents: Being a filthy heterosexual in a godless wasteland of gays

Pet peeves: Trumpists, people who tell instead of teach, anti-maskers, dudes who call you names like "doll" and "beautiful" when they just met you :nono:

Personal hero: I don't have one. I really like Dave Chappelle though?

Favourite real-life homosexual: A good personal friend I left behind in Georgia. Lovely lesbian raising two blaxican twins with her partner.

Favourite movies: I'm so bad at these things. Superbad, V for Vendetta, Stepbrothers,

Favourite TV shows: Old stuff like Avatar the last Airbender, F is for Family, Rick & Morty, etc.

Favourite music: Lots of stuff, mostly mainstream, many genres.

Favourite books: Heinlein, Vonnegut, Stephen King, Emily St. John Mandel, many others

Favourite food: Think sour or spicy. Pickles, tomatoes, italian dressings, jerky, etc.

A quote to live by: "In the darkest of times, hope is something you give yourself."

Hello, Sharon dear, my sister-in-Christ. You’ll be please to know I have been born again and live my life as a monk now, helping the less fortunate ever since you left.

Nah I’m playing. Glad you’re back. Where’d you go? I hope you’re back for good.

Welcome back Sherri! I've looked at the list of moderators before and wondered where everyone went. With the exception of one person everyone seems to have just stopped posting without explanation.

Welcome back!!! :awesome: :keke:

I was actually thinking of PMing you just the other day! I think some recent developments will be of particular interest to you. When you have time for some reading and looking at pictures, you may want to start here, read through that thread and then this one, followed by this one where the relevant stuff starts about 1/3 down the first page, then this one, and finally this one. :D

Welcome!

I’m one of those names you don’t recognise as have only been posting for a month of so.

I’m with you on the sour or spicy food. My taste buds rejects anything else.

Yay, welcome back!

I wish I could say Brazil, but it's embarrassing here too and it's not even a good country, so I guess the only thing we got going for us is hot weather.

I honestly don't remember which accomodation situation you're referencing. Housing perhaps?

Hah! As if you could live a normal life. I mostly just got very busy having friends and a boyfriend and a life and stuff. No going out with friends any more thanks to COVID, but I'm still in school and working and have a relationship and whatnot.

Brenden wrote:Yay, welcome back!

Thanks :D. I moved in 2018, a good bit before I left here. Thank goodness. Georgia isn't really handling COVID well at all.

Once you get to a certain point, I think it's easy to be worn out on the boards as a whole and stop coming because life gets so busy. I can almost guarantee that once I start having kids, I probably won't have time for much of anything.

And thanks! The ME games are still some of my favorites of all time.

Welcome to you as well then :). And hey don't get me wrong; I like sweets, too, but sour sweets > sugary sweets.

I've seen that Brazil isn't doing all that great with the rona :(. It's unfortunate that so many countries are handling it so poorly.

Okay Mr. Rene, I'll do my homework this weekend . Though from the URLs it looks like it's a good deal of polyamorous type things? I'm no longer really practicing it. Pretty well set on monogamy now, with no ill will towards polyamory itself. I'll check it all out!

What brought me here is being Bi but what made me stay is the hilarious trolls and members trolling back. Also advice and a place that I can rant about things. People here have been supportive and stuff. I try to help others out with advice and such.

Hello Sherri, nice to meet you.
Acceptance doesn't mean resignation; it means understanding that something is what it is and that there's got to be a way through it.

Awesome, Sherri's back. Heeey! :awesome:

RN as in Registered Nurse? That's great! Are you hospital based?

Sherri wrote:...dudes who call you names like "doll" and "beautiful" when they just met you...

In most places in Scotland, it's "pal" for men, and "hen" for women. However, where I'm at now (Glasgow), everybody seems to get called "pal" these days. It can be a progressive place, amidst all the sectarianism. :P

I guess I completely missed that! Enjoying New Mexico? It's one of the few states I always considered settling in (if I stayed in the States).

Haha, I see! That's interesting.

For me it seems more like something innate than a practice. I don't feel like I "practise" polyamory any more than I "practise" homosexuality.

I was definitely polyamorous before I was in a polyamorous relationship, just like I was gay before I was in a gay relationship. Like with being gay, the signs were always there, looking back. And now that I've realised and put it all together, I can't really imagine not wanting to have a third guy in our life any more than I can imagine not wanting to have a same-sex relationship to begin with. :P

Luckily Brenden and I seem to be pretty much 100% in sync when it comes to falling for guys - each time one of us has started developing feelings for someone, the other has quickly followed suit, and before long, this led to us finding a really amazing guy we've been seeing for 4.5 months now, and we see real potential for a future together. :keke:

Oh god, I wish I hadn't brought it up now, incase it's something you've blocked out :P Yeah, housing.

But you had been living in a rough part of town, had a break and I generally got the impression, you hadn't felt very secure there anymore, as is often the case after a break in.

Hopefully you've moved!
