One step closer to my childhood dream of having a robot butler.

Robots are cool, but as someone who can get off his backside and do things for himself, I consider them pretty useless (for household stuff at least; industrial stuff is a different matter).

Its also unlikely I would trust anything coming from Amazon.

I sorta get the market appeal - to those with disposable income who love bleeding edge tech and are interested in some sort of mobile security thingie in their home. Unfortunately its that last bit that creeps me out bigtime. How much harder will it be to program than a VCR? How will it treat a closed door? Will that be the only way to have some privacy? It certainly can't do stairs.

Might also have a bit more appeal if they mated Astro to a Roomba.

Is it bleeding edge tech? I feel like I could put an animated face on an iPad and glue it to the top of a robot vacuum and have this beat in the marketplace with a cutesy robot that films you in your own house AND vacuums as they go.
