I watch A Quiet Place - Part 2 at the theater with some friends. Nice to get out of the house I suppose. The sequel was along the same lines as the original.

I am rewatching The Dark Knight Rises tonight. I should be catching up on sleep instead.

Also, Charlie Cox is so cute.

Ewww. Stephen Hawking angers me and I find that, among all my most disfavored scientists, he ranks right alongside the detestable Neil deGrasse Tyson and the filth Bill Nye.

While not fully caught up on the reasons why this might be so, I find myself smiling and nodding. :P

I watched Alexander Revisited: The Final Cut on Netflix. I understand why it was so poorly rated.

I really wanted to like this film when it came out. Just wasn't happening. It had the makings of something brilliant and it just never comes together. Like, at all. In any way.

Last night watched "Safe" with Jason Statham. Love me some Stath! Today my actioner mood continues so I think it's time to bring out the big guns...A classic with Arnie or Sly.

What Lies Below (NOT What Lies Beneath).

Unread postby WillyVanilly » 12 June 2021, 01:44

While I mostly prefer to watch independent films, foreign films, and various other noncommercial gems of cinema ..... I sometimes need a little dose of mass-marketed American junk food "movies". That said, I just watched a fun but mostly forgettable movie on Netflix titled What Lies Below. It was a sort of mysterious Sci-fi horror flick, It was mostly entertaining despite some very predictable movie devices. And for all you man-watchers out there ,,,,, the lead male character is HAF (played by Trey Tucker with beard).

I watch pretty much everything - from Hollywood (and Bollywood) blockbusters to arthouse classics to rare shorts from countries most people haven't heard of to TV series to documentaries and, of course, queer cinema. I've been logging my watches for the last 21 years. Some quick stats:

  • My spreadsheet has almost 17,000 entries (will cross that line in the coming week)
  • I've seen at least one film from 179 countries and sub-national autonomous units (like Puerto Rico and Hong Kong)
  • I've seen 100 or more films for every year from 1940 - 2019. (includes shorts and some TV series)
  • My main source of films is my local library (includes streaming services Kanopy and Hoopla) and I also have access to Netflix

Yesterday I watched:

Yes, I do watch a lot of movies mainly because health problems limit what all I can do physically and I only work a small number of hours per week -- it's not an ideal life, but I've made the most of it with what I've got to work with. I've always been interested in movies, but I've really enjoyed delving into world cinema.

I would recommend to watch Schitt's Creek.

One of the main hero - David Rose has the relationship with his work partner. David Rose is bisexual, he meets both with girls and men, but at last he had serious relationship with the man.
The main plus of this film - is that creators of this film show the ordinary life of different sexual orientation people, people live together, closely to each other and don't hate each other
:finger:

Have ever you watched this film?

Absolutely loved Schitt's Creek! something found rather by accident, but I burned through the first five seasons (and had to wait for the final) but I'm also a Catherine O'Hara fan and think she has great working chemistry with Eugene Levy. Certainly can think of a lot worse ways to spend 1800 minutes of a lifetime.

Also, watched Under the Silver Lake tonight. Really enjoyed it for the most part though felt the payoff was a bit underwhelming.

Otherwise, I've been watching lots of stuff that is just asphalt under the tires of my road trip through cinema.
