Gay Themed Films & Movies
Gay Themed Films & Movies
When I ask or google gay themed movies the only thing I find is comedies with a lot of sex, stereotypical gayness involved which I can't find a connection to and if you have the same feel as me towards them, you can guess how frustrating movies like that are.
So I was thinking that you guys might be an actually good source, would you mind sharing your favorite gay themed movies with me if you have any. Would be awesome.

Re: Gay themed movies etc.
I don't tend to bother watching 'gay film', but there's a few that are probably worth watching.
Brokeback Mountain is the obvious one if you've not seen it. I thought it was really overrated myself, but most people rate it.
One I did enjoy rather recently was Pride - it has its funny moments, has some very familiar faces in it, and was really rather uplifting in its own way.

I know Brokeback Mountain, it's a one I could watch 10 times and not get bored, as kinky as it may sound.
Pride and The Way He Looks, seem interesting, will add them to my list.
Any other suggestions?

Rxxli is your man for this. He's pretty much seen everything. He'll probably reply to this thread when he's next online.

I think Weekend is quite a good film. It's definitely worth looking up.
Don't think about doing it tomorrow. You won't do it tomorrow. Do it today.

Most of them have bored the shit out of me tbh.

Yeah, I've never really liked any LGBT movies that I've seen, especially the tendentious ones like Prayers for Bobby. There are some exceptions though, like Brokeback Mountain and Boys Don't Cry.

Re: Gay themed movies etc.
Good movies are already rare. Now try finding good movies in a tiny sub section of the movie business in which most directors and writers are absolutely obsessed with a select few stereotypes/archetypes AND have tiny budgets/not many connections.
I've rarely enjoyed "gay movies". I wish there were more good ones.

Same here. But haven't given up the hope.
@tl1992: liked that one also. My opinion is that it's a good movie for 2 more people though. It's a movie to talk about as it is based on something real
@xyz72 I wish the same. That's what this thread is here for

Re: Gay themed movies etc.
I should start going to my cinema's weekly "Mongay" feature. There might be some good stuff in there.
But it's at 10pm and I have to leave for class at 8:15 in the morning the next day.
More on topic: Xavier Dolan's first 3 films are all more or less gay themed and are fantastic. I haven't seen Tom à la ferme or Mommy yet.

You should risk it once for me. Either it's worth it or not. If yes please tell me about it

And thanks for the advice! That's actually the kind of movies I was looking for, didn't know about them

Considering today's film is Birdman(I didn't even realize there was anything gay about that film)...I don't think so.

Re: Gay themed movies etc.
I like it most when movies have a gay subplot or aspect or two but don't make it such a big deal. Or where the characters are gay but the plot could easily be about people of any sexual orientation.
Like The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel or The Kids Are All Right, two of my favourite movies.
