GFO's Top 10 Disney Animated Films
GFO's Top 10 Disney Animated Films
After creating a Top 5 Pixar film thread last week on here, I have created this thread to find out which films from the Walt Disney Animation Studios are most liked by the GFO users. I'm really interested in which film will comes out top!
As 55 feature films films have currently been released, feel free to post below and list your top 10 films in order from 1-10 so we can find out which film is the most highly thought of and tops the rankings. If you struggle or can't list a top 10, please post your top 5.
Each film ranked 1st will be worth 10 points, 2nd is worth 9 points and so on meaning the film ranked 10th is worth 1 point.
As of midnight on the 29th September, the current top ten are:

1) The Lion King (59)
2) Aladdin (44)
3) Mulan (34)
4) Zootopia (33)
5) Wreck-It Ralph (29)
6) The Emperor's New Groove (29)
7) Lilo & Stitch (23)
8) The Hunchback of Notre Dame (20)
9) Alice in Wonderland (17)
10) Tarzan (17)

Re: GFO's Top Disney Animated Films
It is indeed a huge list to pick from so I have amended the OP asking for their top 10 Disney Animated Films so members can post their top 10 (or 5 if they wish). Brendan and Chris, feel free to add numbers 6-10 to your post if you want to do a top 10.
I can honestly admit that I have not seen all 55 films that have been released, but here is my top 10:
1. The Lion King
2. Aladdin
3. Pinocchio
4. One Hundred and One Dalmatians
5. Wreck-It Ralph
6. Zootopia
7. Dumbo
8. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
9. Big Hero 6
10. The Jungle Book

I've added 6-10 to my ranking! It was rather difficult compared to 1-5.

1. Mulan
2. The Emperor's New Groove
3. Lilo & Stitch
4. Atlantis: The Lost Empire
5. Hercules
6. Fantasia 2000 (I haven't seen the first one in full tho)
7. Peter Pan
8. Cinderella
9. The Lion King
10. The Princess and the Frog
I have a feeling Moana is going to breach my top 5 in the future. It got me feeling a type of way I haven't really felt since before Lilo & Stitch.

I'd quite happily rewatch all but a handful of the Disney classics. Some of the early 1940's films were really weak, partly because of budget, partly because of their whole South America goodwill tour agenda meaning they never got to be 'just movies'.
Also for the record... Frozen - overrated. As is the film at the top of my list, but I really like that one

Re: GFO's Top 10 Disney Animated Films
Haven't seen them all, in fact, I haven't seen a lot of the classics like Mulan and Beauty and The Beast, but here goes:
1. Zootopia
2. Lilo & Stitch
3. Big Hero 6 (This one really deserves more love!)
4. Tarzan
5. Peter Pan
6. Aladdin
7. Wreck-It Ralph
8. Alice in Wonderland
9. The Lion King
10. Frozen
Yes, I added Frozen, I think it isn't on anyone else's list mostly because it's so overrated and popular, but that really shouldn't take away from the fact that it's actually a really solid movie.
I am pumped for Moana though, it looks beautiful and I'm a fan of anything that has tropical islands and Polynesian culture.

^^ i love your first post is resurrecting this thread.
Welcome to GFO. You should introduce yourself.
Im gonna be honest and admit that i havent seen any of the newer ones. Im not big on animation.
The lion king will always be a classic. . And toy story is Disney/ Pixar but another good one. I also remember really enjoying beauty and the beast and the fox and the hound.
Anyone remember a movie from the early 90's starring Macaulay Caulkin called the pagemaster? That was my shit when i was a kid.

Lion King is kind of hard to beat because it didn’t just have a moral to the story, which I’m guessing most Disney and Pixar films do, but the general theme was about life and death. A bit more profound than just finding Prince Charming.
Growing up, though I did watch a few Disney films, I always considered myself more of a Warner Bros. fan than a Disney fan because Disney always seemed kinda cheesy and sappy to me. Cartoons like Animaniacs or The Jackie Chan Adventures seemed funnier and more appealing to me but I’m probably comparing apples to oranges.
A question for anyone who’s seen recent Disney films: Are most of the ones put out incomparable to the classics or are there films that are equally profound and touching? When I see trailers for a lot of the new animated Disney or Pixar films I can’t help but just rolls my eyes at the character dialogue and feeling it’s a quick cash grab by appealing to slapstick comedy and other bullshit that appeals to children but maybe I’m wrong.

Oh Animaniacs was brilliant. There was something both irreverent and yet, also at times, kinda profound, for a kids cartoon show, in that little gem.
I dunno if it's because, I saw the Disney I did, as a child, compared to New Disney, which I see through the lens of adulthood, that makes newer productions, seem pale in comparison.
I never liked Lion King, I know, anathema, if ever I dare mention that infront of people, I'm often regarded as some kind of heartless monster.
I was far more a fan of Aladdin and Alice in Wonderland. Pretty much everything after Lion King, hasn't really been that great to my mind but as I said previously, who can say if thats because I no longer have the outlook of childhood to make it magical?
I recall an arguement between two forty yeay old colleagues awhile back, about the shit quality of the second star wars trilogy, compared to the original. One prefered the first and the other, had kids who prefered the second trilogy.
The arguement is one we've all seen or heard many times, might have even particiapted in.
Int his instance, the guy who loved the originals, kept pointing to how silly and childish alot fo the characters int he new trilogy are, including the droids and gungans and such and that they were only really ever about merchandising and childish entertainment.
But the guy whose kids loved the new trilogy, pointed out, that, in Return of the Jedi, the Ewoks were just that and when you look at it objectively, alot of the characters from the original, can be seen as quite silly and simple.
I found myself agreeing. That both pandered to the same audiences, but at different times. Those children pandered to in the 70's hated the new trilogy, because it wasn't for them.
I think, with Disney (which also means Starwars these days.... and pretty much anythng else Disney can get it's grubby mits on) it's likely to be the same.
It's the movies "you" grew up with, that you tend to treasure the most. In this particular arena anyway.
