Is This Progress?

Mister Global is a fairly new international competition focused on male beauty, among other things.

Is this progress in the equality of men and women? Is it a negative objectification of men? What do you think?

And if anybody needs me, I'll be in Sri Lanka...

There’s been other types of male pageantry so it’s not really a new phenomenon, but I don’t see the harm in it. If people are into it, more power to them.

Looks like photo artistry to me, playing with mythological or certain ethnic, traditional ornaments. It might be directed to people that share a certain concept of aesthetics and art.
If the idea of equality leads to more presentation of beautiful men, I would support it. As long as it doesn't go down the sexist lane as much as it went for women in photography and exploitation, everything is fine.

I think it's like watching Big Brother: it's superficial and simply a pastime, but there will people who enjoy it and it's there for those people. I don't mind it at all...

An ill-fitting superman costume at that. Just embarrassing.
