LGBT book recommendations?

Unread postby azelf » 16 October 2017, 12:36

Hey. So, I've had an itching to read something that's not a webtoon lately and, since Christmas is coming, I have the excuse of buying books. In particular, I'm interested in books that either have a queer narrative (e.g. Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda) or a queer character (e.g. Ash). Failing that, books that have characters who could be interpreted as queer are also fine. My friend has a stash of such books so I also have the option of mooching off of them, but I would like to acquire more of my own. Any ideas?

I know I can easily just google this (which I have), but I wanted an excuse to post something haha.

Dancer from the Dance by Andrew Holleran and Geovanni’s Room by James Baldwin are personal favourites. Currently reading Maurice by EM Forster and it’s good so far!

Simon and the homo sapiens agenda was quite nice. Though my personal favourite that I've read this year was definetly Silent by Sara Alva.

Second place on that list goes to True letters from a fictional life by Kenneth Logan.

Thank you, I'll look more into them! Most of the things I've been looking at have been contemporary and/or YA so it would be interesting to read something a bit older.

Yeah I liked it, it was easy and satisfying to read. Aw they both sound emotional. I'll check them out, thank you! (and feel free to recommend any more you think of)

I plan to start writing some novels since I came up with a few story ideas in my head, so I decided to start reading some YA LGBT books. The one I had just finished reading was Hero by Perry Moore, and I really recommend it. It's like one of those movies that keep you at the edge of your seats. Now I just started Boy meets Boy by David Levithan and will see how it goes. Any other recommendations would be great too.

Here's a few recommendations:

The Ghost of Buxton Manor by Jonathan L Ferrara (paranormal, romance)
How To Repair a Mechanical Heart by J.C. Lillis (comedy, contemporary)
A Boy Worth Knowing by Jennifer Cosgrove (paranormal, romance)
Proxy and Guardian by Alex London (sci-fi, dystopian)
We Are The Ants by Shaun David Hutchinson (sci-fi, contemporary)
The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee (action, adventure)

Not sure if you read any of these, but I can give you more recommendations.
