Re: Film of the Moment
Just got back from Pirates of the Caribbean and... ugh.
I mean it's better than the 4th one but... ugh. It felt less like a Pirates of the Caribbean film and more like a Pirates of the Caribbean-themed checklist. Like they boiled the franchise down to its base components with little understanding of why they worked in the first place, then filled in any cracks (of which there are many) with bigger CGI effects to make up for any of the myriad lacklustre plot moments.
It's just kind of a mess. I had a fairly okay time with it, but that changes nothing about it being a mess that, like the 4th film, honestly had zero reason to exist. I mean the 4th film was barely a film in the same franchise and this one just retconned crap to justify its existence.

While it's only a fan-made trailer, I'm fucking psyched that my 14 year wait is finally going to come to an end

Re: New and Upcoming Films
I watched Wonder Woman last week in IMAX 3D and I really liked it. Definitely the best of the DCEU movies so far.
It's ridiculous that it took this long for Wonder Woman to get her own movie but this was worth it though. Gal Gadot really has made the character an icon once again and I thought Chris Pine did a great job as Steve Trevor too. I bought into the love story and they worked brilliantly together and as individual characters.
I didn't mind them setting it during WW1. I even think it works well with what they were trying to do here. Patty Jenkins certainly has a great eye for detail both with the WW1 sequences and Themiscyra, which looked stunning.
Ares could've done with more screentime but I actually thought he was a great antagonist. Didn't mind Ludendorff and Doctor Poison as well.
Great slew of supporting characters like Hippolyta, Antiope, Charlie, Etta, Chief and Sameer as well, 9/10

I watched that today. Now I won't be able to stop thinking about Chris Pine for about a week.
