Just arguably the greatest video game series of all time. OoT in particular probably rounds out lists as the most highly ranked video game ever.

According to every review written so far, it's the best game anyone has ever played. Maybe I'll play it if I win the lottery and can therefore justify to myself the expense of a console.

13 more days until ME:Andromeda.

For that much money, you could get an amazing GPU and emulate any Switch game at 1080p, once the emulation community comes out with one that is.

That is ok. I can always ask the ever cheerful Angelika for help. She would never lead us astray.

Well she does have a good bluff skill so I'm not surprised you believe that. :awesome:

How far are you in Breath of The Wild?

Usually I take it slow and play several different games at a time so I am still in the first area. I can tell it will be fun. How far are you?

They haven't even got the 3DS emulator working well yet.

Switch runs on an Nvidea laptop GPU; it'll be much easier to emulate than a 3DS.

I know No Mans Sky got a super bad reputation in the beginning but I am a sucker for design your own place games which makes me feel it is finally worth the price with the update.

Breath of the Wild seems really good but the stamina and durability systems sound like pains in the ass.

Gay people are shitting themselves because the gay romances from Mass Effect: Andromeda are short compared to the heterosexual ones.

If we're not careful, we're going to overtake straight white male conservatives as America's no. 1 victims.

We should feel more victimized by the shoddy graphics and shit story tbh

I would enjoy having a friendly conversation about this game for a change. What didn't you like about it?

I'm going to sound sappy as fuck so buckle up friend.

I played the first mass effect after my mom died when I was 14, it was on my brothers shitty old xbox that made death sounds every few minutes, I needed friends then and my irl ones were pretty bad...

I know the writing wasn't great in the Original trilogy but...I got so attached to the squad mates, they felt so real (I love bioware because 9 times out of 10, you meet cool fleshed out characters, become their best friend and defeat evil.)

Liara was my favorite character and putting her next to the new asari lady (that's another thing, try as hard as I may, I forget a lot of names in Andromeda. I care that little about them.) the new asari is annoying as fudge imo.

The graphics wouldn't be a deal breaker (I played Dragon Age Inquisiton on xbox 360 so like whatves.) however they sometimes really ruin a scene and take all the emotion/immersion out of it.

Tldr: The gameplay is fun but I am a story snob and I just can't care about anything...or anyone honestly, especially the protag.

I don't like Peebee either. But I like Ryder. The male voice is so very gregarious.

IDK plenty of gay romance stuff in these AAA rpgs is so inoffensive and generic it may as well not be there. Plus I got annoyed when my lesbian Inquisitor couldn't get it on with Cassandra even though everything about her screamed 'fuck me'.

Anyway I still think the worst thing is you can't just be flirty or casual. Do a couple of romance options and a character is ready to marry you.

I would have said the same before playing, but now I got my hands on it, they feel like part of what makes BOTW so great. Combined with the lack of explanation you get, literally everything being climbable, the map that features nothing but the names of the areas at first, the immense size of the world, quirky discoveries around every corner and the 'realistic' physics, this makes for the most immersive sense of exploration any game has ever given me. It even requires a decent amount of planning every now and then, as if you're a real traveler. Whether it is finding another route because you don't have enough stamina to climb/it's raining or heading out to explore the many corners of Hyrule you missed, in search of better weapons, it's never really boring to traverse through this world. There's also not always a specific order to the story, which feels really natural. I set out to explore an area I hadn't been yet yesterday and accidentally stumbled upon the Zora Kingdom, finding a new storyline mission. Instead of being worried I'd be underleveled or rushing things, I could just say 'Hell yeah lez do dis'.

Compared to other open world games, like the recent Horizon Zero Dawn (which I also really like), this game really outdoes them in terms of world building. HZD comes with obvious designed-for-climbing ridges, convenient patches of grass to hide in, no stamina system, no consequences for wearing 10 layers of clothes while swimming, predictable enemies, nothing is really affected by the weather etc., which make for a much more artificial experience (although a really enjoyable one nonetheless).

Btw, now I'm already ranting; the Switch is also a really worthwhile console. It's not just the convenience of being able to switch to handheld mode when my brother wants to play the playstation, but how all the different configurations you can play in offer a sense of freedom and a really natural gaming experience. My fav setup is definitely with the joy-cons separated, one in each hand, you can basically position yourself however you want this way. While I know it's not the most powerful console around, I'm impressed with what it houses in such a small body (it really is surprisingly small). Contrary the complaints I came across online, the framerate in Breath of the Wild while docked is pretty impeccable so far, though I heard that might be due to the patch.

To be fair, pretty much every RPG romance is inoffensive and generic. There's only so much they can do in the span of ten minutes of dialog.

I finished Breath of The Wild tonight in earnest with everything completed except for the Korok seeds. I enjoyed the game a lot and it proved to be a very good diversion from other things.
