Oh, leviathan. Right? You've pretty much just named some of my favourite moments in that series.

I have been playing Pokémon Sword a lot since the back injury (I’m mostly fine now) and I have been trying my hand at Pokémon breeding.

It’s kind of tedious, but there are plenty of other things to do while you’re hatching eggs.

So this is an odd one for me: Tom Clancy's The Division 2.

If you'd asked me to pay up-front for a 'live service' cover-based shooter I'd have told you to go fuck yourself. But while bored the other day I saw that they offer 6 hours of a free trial period for it so I figured why not try it out. Worst case scenario I waste a few hours of time but no money.

But I'll be damned if I wasn't so into it by the end of the 6 hours that I willingly bought the full game to carry on playing. There's just something oddly compelling about it and I'm really enjoying my time with it. Which is really unexpected if you know anything about me and how much I usually dislike cover-based shooters.

I love it when they re-release old games in 4K. :awesome:

(Of which the second game (originally from 1998) is an example but not the first, which is exactly the way it was released for DOS in 1994. :keke:)

Oh, how did you manage to play Settlers 3? Would love to play this one again…

It's a re-release called the "History Edition". I expect you can buy it somewhere, though I pirated it (easily found through torrent). Let me know if you need help finding it. They did Settlers IV and the others too — though I never found anything after IV interesting. Still need to try out II, which is supposed to be really good. :)

Ooh, the city builder? :awesome:

Still need to try that one sometime! I did play Caesar III recently — well, the fan-made reverse-engineered open-source drop-in replacement that supports high resolutions, called Julius. :D

There's also a fan remake/expansion of that called Augustus, which adds loads of new features apparently.

I wonder if similar projects exist for Pharaoh.

Yes, the very same. There is a reboot of sorts but I've heard it's a bit hit and miss.

I want to finally start a run through the Mass Effect Legendary Edition but for the life of me I both can't decide what fucking class to play as, and can't make a Shepard that doesn't look like a gross potato homunculus.

Marvels Spider-man remastered for the PC. The Traversap system is fun and the combat is nice blend of Arkham meets Shadow of Morder.

It's good. Also purchased X4 and its expansions but I haven't played it yet. I know from previous titles in the series, that game is gonna be a time sink. I don't have the time right now. But I'm happy it's in my library and that i got it cheap in a sale.

I got very into Stardew Valley while I was quarantined with COVID for two weeks in July.

Then just before we travelled to Maryland / Las Vegas / Arizona early August I got very into Crusader Kings III. I've been meaning to get back into it but just haven't felt like getting into the nitty gritty of gameplay again.

CK3. I have a love/hate relationship with that game.

On the one hand, it's super accessible, pretty and has the cleanest UI of the series. On the other, it's just too damn easy and samey, compared to it's forebears. Every game plays the same way and the simulation aspects are less interesting then previous titles. The dlc is also overpriced and underwhelming.

That said, I loved my Targaryen inspired, purple eyed, white haired dynasty of beautiful geniuses that took over most of Europe as heretical fundamentalist Christians with a penchant for fornication and ritual sacrifice. Because... you know, the options are there soooo... why not? :P

Where'd you start? I find I start in scandinavia, cuz norse adventure mechanics  For a Scandi character, the world is your oyster. Provided you raid and pillage it some, first.

I'm looking forward to the Friends and Foes update. Personally, I've found that the relationship aspects of the game is the most interesting part, but it's often just to difficult too keep track of it all. Having a system to do that for you would be excellent.

Hopefully introduces some longer lasting impacts, too. I mean, if I murder my leprous brother's son so that I can inherit the dutchy and reunify my father's lands, then I don't think bunging a few hundred quid his way is going go very far in healing that relationship. :P

Started playing Octopath Traveller again while I was ill over the weekend.

I really want to like it. I like the combat system, the characters, the visual design, the music. I love so much about it. I just wish I could actually stick with it beyond Chapter 1 of the characters' stories.

Collected 7 out of 8 of the characters, took 12.5 hours to do it... then just got the uncontrollable urge to restart the game to pick a different one of the characters as my party leader. It'd be a problem they could have resolved so easily by making all 4 party spots changeable. But no. You can change 3 out of the 4 out, but whoever you pick first is your party leader for the entire game so I end up torn between two characters I like but who have overlapping path action powers thus meaning it's pointless to have them both in the party at once.
