What's your favorite music?
Ik that no one has posted here in a while sadly, but I looooove music and so wanted to ask you all what your favorite songs, genres, or artists are!
My favorite genres are R&B and rap, my favorite artist is Drake (OVO π₯°), and my favorite song changed a lot from time to time, but I think it might be Do Not Disturb.
That being said though I love pretty much every other genre π, and have a playlist with like 800 songs on it as of now.
I would link it but idk if I'm allowed to sorry π .
If anyone wants to though I'd love to share playlists with you all who reply to this π

Re: What's your favorite music π?
You should check out the music thread (and post some of your own favourites there too)
To answer your question. My tastes are rather eclectic these days.
I like some classic 80's/90's pop, still love trance even though it's dated as all get out.
Classical is my favourite for chilling. Slow rock, blues and some dubstep.
I like some reggae too.
Specific songs can be hard to pin down, I'm one of those people who never remembers song titles. (Or even artist names

Re: What's your favorite music π?
I donβt know that I have a favourite genre or artist, what I listen to broadly moves with my mood. Iβm definitely more of an album consumer than a singles/playlist consumer.
A few of my top picks from last yearβs releases would probably be:
CHVRCHES - Screen Violence
Argo Parks - Collapsed in Sunbeams
Julien DorΓ© - AimΓ©e Encore
Biffy Clyro - The Myth of Happily Ever After
Self Esteem - Prioritise Pleasure
Weather Station - Ignorance
James Vincent McMorrow - Grapefruit Season
Bo Burnham - Inside
Monarchy - Syzygy
London Grammar - Californian Soil

Re: What's your favorite music π?
Haven't done anything remotely like a playlist since 2002. Yeah, I know the date because I was trying to cram all my faves on my little mp3 player (no, it wasn't an iPod)
My music taste has waned substantially this century. I've no interest in Hip Hop for the most part and pop music usually doesn't grab the interest of the nearing retirement set. Maybe some Mantovani or Lombardo? Just kidding though I tend to listen to classical more than anything - and that's when I take to putting music on, which is very rare. I actually have grown to prefer the quiet.
That said, I also like Jazz, New Age, World Beat, and music that I've liked since my youth, but that's more something I have to be in the mood for.
Lawrence Welk anyone? (just kidding)

Eew I hate jazz! I just don't get it.

Not even that noir, erratic stuff they play on Homeland? I thought that was pretty good.

I'll confess I haven't seen Homeland (just checked out a YouTube video of some of the jazz it offers) and no, not even the noir erratic stuff.
I'd say it's the erratic part I don't like. It's too discordant and chaotic.

Re: What's your favorite music π?
So, guess that means you don't want to be my post=pandemic date for the The Rite of Spring & Firebird ballets with live orchestra under a summer sky?
I'll be honest, when it comes to jazz, it's not all created equal in my eyes and I'm not as knowledgeable as I wish I were to be able to talk about it. The highly discordant, seemingly all over the place stuff isn't what I'd choose, but like the classical pieces referenced above, it's music that, especially with some guidance, provokes thought and emotion. It's just that it takes a lot more work on my part.
I also tend to enjoy Dixieland less and view it as an important artifact rather than something to play while washing up. I can stand smooth jazz, but it's for offices, elevators, and enforced relaxation - it's background music, not something I listen to.
I probably gravitate mostly too Big Band, Swing, Bebop/Scat (not that kind, men, it's music), fusion, and acid jazz. I also really enjoy Latin jazz (or, to be a bit more precise, jazz from Latin America).
My guess is you probably like more from that last paragraph than you might realize, or, heaven forbid, Kenny G.

I have weird taste of music. I used lo listen to Frank Sinatra, Michael Buble in High school, Listen to Panic at the Disco in university.
Now i only listen to Anime music, Ghibli studio animation music to be exact. it help me focus and calm when doing things. It feels like I have more bond to the music in a anime because I feel the emotion when I hear it again i can remember the emotion when I watch the movie.

Ooh, my favourite!
OT: At the moment, I'm listening to a lot of industrial. Industrial metal, industrial hip hop, electro-industrial it's all good. Fightin' music. Also at the tail end of a hyperpop and hardcore phase. Occasional tourist in Heavy Metal land.
In essence, I like to take things to the extreme. I also like ambient and pain-by-numbers pop, for when my brain's been scrambled by all the nonsense I'm listening to. In addition, I like all the rest of it. Music in general, I mean. It's good.
Apart from chiptune. Chiptune is bad and whoever's encouraging it should feel bad too.
Current vibes:
Boy Harsher
Prospero
EXUM
Galantis
Ho99o9
Babyland
IDLES
Ghostmane
Charli XCX
3Teeth
Strangest of Loops
