16 Years Later, How the Press That Sold the Iraq War Got Away With It

This is a good read. I think it underscores the importance of holding media figures accountable for their failures in moral judgment, because the narrative they peddle that they were simply wrong on the facts is woefully inadequate. The Iraq War was an especially egregious example of the media's widespread, wholesale complicity in facilitating disaster. Few people in this country ever bother learning about our history of foreign policy atrocities, and we let the "experts" get away with a mea culpa that makes no attempt at synthesizing that history with the barest pretense that imperialism is immoral.

I have a couple of Taibbi's books, which I thought were quite good. Is he Derek-certified free of neoliberal cuckiness?

Yeah, he's okay. I don't want you talking to him unless I'm there though.

'Member when MI6's agent turned out to have ripped the chem weapon intel from a film? Then, upon realising this, failed to inform the government, who then subsequently went to war?

I stopped watching TV more than 20 years ago and both back then and now I don't trust any of our media cuz they're all properties of different political criminals and therefore everything they say is twisted.
