Eurovision 2014

Seems I'm excited enough to create an actual dedicated thread. Please use this to give your opinion on this year's songs.

I'll start by saying I have a soft spit for Malta. I also like Russia, Sweden, Switzerland and Slovenia amongst others.

P.S. Please don't post just for the purpose of dissing the contest. Try to at least make your comments specific to this year's competition. :P
Don't think about doing it tomorrow. You won't do it tomorrow. Do it today.

We are always, always shit. And Europe always, always lets us know about it. It's the number one reason UKIP exists.
And Marmaduke you are a bitch.

It's not too bad. If we can get a top 10, then I'll be happy. A funny side note: I've listened to all but three of the songs so far and one of those songs is The Netherlands!

We don't always get a shit score! Check the results for 2009 and 2011. :P

Don't forget the semi-finals on Tuesday 6th and Thursday 8th. ;)

I only watch the final. That way it's more exciting. Haven't heard ANY of the songs at all this year. Even Britain. :D

My facebook commentary is the best.

I usually end up enjoying one or two songs every year. I don't know why I do this to myself, but I'll be downloading it a couple days after it aired and skip through the crap.

You'll be skipping Germany's song then.

I did think we had the best song when Lena was going for round #2(was that 2010? 2011?), but everyone else disagreed, so let's see if I'll like this year's song.

Taken By A Stranger? That was 2011, the year that I went to see the contest live. I thought that one was pretty good actually. It beat us anyway.

How cute, I love it. :D

Your excitement made me excited. :applause: Let's hear the songs. Let's rate them.

Moldova – Kinda loving it.
Estonia – Done to death.
Latvia – I have no words.
Poland – This is a fun one.
France – Could use a better chorus.
Sweden – A solid power ballad.
Portugal – Reminds me of Lambada (most of the user's here are probably too young to remember; I'm most likely too old to be here).
Belgium – I didn't even bother with this one. If a grown man sings a song entitled Mother, that's just sad. :facepalm2:
Norway – Made me want to cut my wrists.
Switzerland – Nul points, as the British would say. (Is it that difficult to use the actual French phrase?)
Austria – I like this power ballad more than Sweden's. But that beard's far too distracting. Her name's great, though, Conchita Wurst.
Finland – No.
Ukraine – I'm on the edge. Of a cliff.
The Netherlands – Somebody's been watching too much VH-1 during puberty.
Albania – Yawn.
Malta – Harmonicas should be banned. :hitler:
Azerbaijan – Still waiting for that fire to start.
Armenia – Trying way too hard.
San Marino – Lovely chorus.
Iceland – The first three seconds were annoying enough.
Denmark – Even more annoying than Iceland's entry. Nasal is not a singing voice.
Spain – Dancing in the rain? More like wallowing in pretentiousness.
Italy – Oh look, another Italian rock chick.
Belarus – Cheesecake indeed. Does sound fun, though.
Greece – Singing in Greek would be a major improvement. And shirtless. They take themselves far too seriously.
Georgia – Mother Earth raises her voice yet again.
Montenegro – Some parts sound really lovely, but otherwise no.
Hungary – The woman in the song is running away? Probably away from the singer.
Romania – The miracle is that some people still get away with 90s techno beat.
Ireland – A corpse would put more life and soul in a song.
Israel – Pink wannabe.
Lithuania – Proof you can get attention by just yelling Attention.
UK – Oh, dear.
Macedonia – Sounds more like Pink than Israel's entry.
Russia – Is that string they mention in the song strong enough to hang myself?
Slovenia – I was hoping she'd hit her head with that flute and render herself unconscious. I wished I was unconscious.

What a disappointment. My will to live may have diminished. Where are gut-wrenching ballads? Where are truly fun dance songs? Where are scantily clad performers? Where are fabulous women and hunky men? I repeat, where are the hunks? These songs brought out the worst in me. I think the Moldovan entry is the only one I actually liked.
You can have everything you want. The tricky part is still wanting it after you get it.

Eww, Moldova? No, just no. I think the best thing you will get to a hunk this year is Hungary. Can't even find a decent picture, though. Below is the best I could get.

Moldovan singer's English may not be easy on the ears but I like her song the most. It's got just the right amount of raw emotion. It sounds sinister, but still melodic. This is a woman who knows passion and heartache. And is likely to stab you in your sleep.

As for hunks, I feel let down by Greece. Maybe they look hunkier without their shirts on. I wonder how much flesh will be on display on stage this year. Judging from the video, I expect some serious cleavage from Ireland.

I'll watch the final and that's enough for me. I'll divide my attention between it and Tumblr which seems to get a whole new cycle of oblivious Americans wondering what the hell is going on every year and why they aren't there - it's the strangest thing, it's only Americans that ever seem to not know :P

I've heard the British song this year - it's not a bad song but it's so unbelievably safe and unremarkable that between our song choices and the fact most of Europe cannot stand us...we deserve to lose :P

I'm so freaking excited for this. This is my most anticipated event of every year so I am very, very excited to see the show.

I quite like our song this year which is saying a lot since our previous entries were usually more on the shitty side. Although it is sadly still missing something.

I also have a feeling that the general quality of songs has risen over the past few years. There are certainly more and more songs each year that I actually like. I have 18 songs from the last year in my music collection and 16 songs from 2012. And I listen to a lot of the regularly.

Whenever I think of Lena I think of something horrible. I just never liked her. I liked the last two German entries a lot. They sadly didn't do so well in the finals.
